A joint venture or strategic alliance is a form of partnership where businesses come together to share knowledge, markets, and profits. Joint ventures can take on various forms. Small companies can band together to take on the goliaths of their industry. Big companies can form alliances with quicker and nimbler small businesses. And small companies have the opportunity to forge strategic alliances with big name companies for expanded geographic reach.

According to Commonwealth Alliance Program (CAP), businesses anticipate strategic alliances to account for 25% of all revenue by 2005, a total of 40 trillion dollars.

No small business today can afford to ignore the rewards of joint venturing.

Cheers,

Javier

A joint venture may be also a way to get ripped off by unethical partners, in spite of contracts and all the other good stuff.

Even big corporations that formed JV with Chinese partners in the 90`s lost their shirt.  Why? China don`t give a damn about IP and property laws.  The same thing is true with many other countries.

Sometimes two small companies can become a large company, and conquer the industry they are in. Plus, if a company have certain weaknesses, they can joint venture with a company that compliments what they are weak in. Great trade off.

Is joint venture good or bad? There is no definite answer. We need to do research and home work. Contract is way to protect both parties. Isn`t very similar to marriage?? We invest energy and valuable time to tie knot. Why are some couples go through rough time together for 50 long years?? Some end up...Cry.  Forgive, love spouse unconditionally commitment, open communication, look at positive side and overlook shortcoming of spouse,.  Clap Let us learn and grow together!!

I think joint ventures can work when everything is clearly spelled out, wittnessed,  and notarized. Both parties have to be clear on what they want and are willing to give in return.  One has to investigrate the firm itself of course.  I have an idea that I believe would be great for SUN members who are in line with my vision of bringing all things Ayurvedic, Organic, and Eco-friendly into as many homes as possible.  If my firm and a few other firms with a solid trac record joined forces, created a wining plan and approached investors to create a seperate entity, as long as everything was spelled out, it shouldn`t be a problem and it would pay for itself through advertising revenue, and other means.  I think for a start up to join with firms already with a track record would be amazing.  I think it can work when done well.
