I heard that CSS Spirits can help in decreasing the number of HTTP request thus improving the site load time. I tried searching and found lot of information about it... but it was difficult for me to understand (Since I am a newbie).

Can someone help in explaining what does CSS Spirits mean.. How can I use it (in simple steps) and how can I apply it to my website to decrease the load time?

Susan,

Sprites help you reduce the http request, which reduces website loading time, as well as file sieze download, you will create a single image that will include the many iamges that were separated before.

If you are not a developer the best thing to use is a ready made solution that facilitates the creation of sprites, and/or the other alternative is that you manage all of your images, and use css to position the part of the iamge (the compouind image) that you need to be display for a given element.

I suggest you read the following articles:

let us know how you come along with your sprites,

Bests
