From time to time..
I see postings on Start Up Nation Regarding web hosting companies, and the technical and customer support issues  that many people are experiencing with them.

So... I am curious to find out... What if there was "the perfect web hosting company" out there?

What would you want it to be? What would you expect it to be? What are you more concern about, Functionality or Support? What is your current company lacking and what would you like to see improvements on?

See the reason why I am asking is because.... Honestly... What would it take for all of us on the forum to say "I am happy with my current web hosting company".
Just wondering...................

I don`t think there`s an answer to your question.
It sort of like saying
What is the perfect restaurant?

We don`t all want to go to the same restaurant.

I think what`s most disturbing to people is the rapid change in service and possibly ownership. A hosting company can change it`s character every 6 months. Customers should be able to shop for the functionality and support they want, and then pay for that level, just like a restaurant. Stability is what i value.

Degrees,
Of course there is the perfect restaurant!... Remember you set your standards.. and I am pretty sure you have a restaurant that you like... a restaurant that you think has the perfect chips or salsa (just an example).. Remember, it`s what you make it... (when you set your standards, that is what best for you..at the time!)

So back to the Web Hosting Question, what are your standards? What do you expect from them in return for your monthly fee and long term Commitment..

I love startlogic. They respond to inquiries quickly, have live chat. great website uptime, and the user interface is riduculously easy. Its like the IPod of webhost solutions. And its cheap. If you own your domain name, a year hosting costs just $70. sometimes they have sales (usually at the end of the year) cutting hosting cost to $30.  www.startlogic.com

Laurie, I`m so glad I came across your post. I have been digging around looking for information about website design, hosting, etc. and discovered this thread. I will check out startlogic, because it always helps to know of satisfied customers. I`m shamefully ignorant about website design and administration, but educated enough to know I need one. I`m just knowledgeable enough about computers and the Internet to be dangerous.  For anyone who can answer --What are the pros and cons regarding do-it-yourself sites (that sound like something I might be able to handle) vs. hiring a web hosting service? Who owns the domain name?  I don`t even know what questions I need to ask! Anyone`s input would be appreciated.

Shamesless? What makes your company the best? Explain to us.
I just read that your prices went up 50% that is alot.
But can you explain to us, what makes your company special?
How many clients do you have, and how many domain names you have registered?

HAHA... prices... no no... package specs...

what makes me the best:
i`ll defer to my clients here:

"Working with Jay over the past year has been a terrific experience. He has set up our Web site to give us the ability to make our own changes and updates, which is timely, efficient and very desirable. I’ve also had the opportunity to view many of his Web designs. They are superb! Simple, clean and very appealing."
-Darci Sagara, CAPCA.

For years now I have been directing client after client to SacHost for web hosting and client after client - all call me thanking me for such a smooth, fast, and easy process they had received from SacHost/GreySky. SacHost has never fallen short of pure amazement at the prompt customer service, outstanding prices they offer, and state of the art technology; so much that I can personally say – SacHost is the host I use, I recommend, and truly believe in with all my personal and business web needs.

Ok, So that is only two clients...
But How is your Tech Support? What type of Server Side Languages do you offer? Are you a reseller or do you own the servers? What Control Panel are you using?
What is the response time for your support tickets? Are you 24 hour Tech support? Why do you charge a set up fee? Most web hosts are free set up..
Again what makes you a good web hosting company...

Tech support is immediate, I offer 7 different methods of contact. I offer a ticket system through my billing control panel but most my clients call me directly or instant messenge me for support.

Server info: http://sachost.com/webhosting/

I own my servers and house them in one of the best datacenters in the US.

I currently run CPanel for a control panel which offers a ton of free programs that can be installed with little or no knowledge or ebsite programming.

As stated previously, 99% of my clients contact me immediately for support via phone or instant messenger, "ticket response time" does not exist.
