Hi. I was wondering what people's thoughts are on a jewelry of the month club? People would get a subscription of 3, 6 or 12 months and pay about $20-$25 a month. They would get a piece of high quality sterling silver jewelry gift wrapped in their mailbox every month. I would only make a few bucks on each order so that the customer is getting something below retail. I would need to make my money in volume.

There are a lot of "of the month" clubs out there and there are a few for jewelry. I have no idea what kind of business they do. Is this something that sounds like it could work? Thanks.

My company has automated the shipping for many companies like this.  Some have been successful for a while but most seem to die out over time.  The ones that I have seen that have done the best are those that did jewelry parties and set up resellers that organized other parties in a multi-level marketing type plan.  In those cases some have done quite well, in fact, some have actually sold their companies to bigger companies for hundreds of millions.  But as with all new company ideas a good product, a good plan, a lot of research, a ton of work and good luck is key.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. - Thomas Edison

Good luck with your idea...

The difficult thing about an "of the month club", is you have to find customers that are willing to pay for something, whether they like the product or not.  For example, you are sending them jewelry, will they know exactly what they will be receiving each month or will it be a surprise?  I have found that jewelry can be a very personal item and some customers may not want to spend the money on that.

Good idea but for such kind of businesses it would be difficult to locate customers who would be ready to pay something to get something!

Thank you so much for your nice topic . It gives me a lot more to think about. I have seen a few of those sites where you sign up to get specials. I like that idea. I have even seen a few facebook fanpages for jewelry businesses that are similar. Thanks again everyone.

Мне кажется что это слишком не рентабельно. Золотые украшения, с ними ведь ничего нельзя сделать, дом не построишь в случае того если их не кто не купит. Слишком рескованно

Hi Ladyrose,

How will you promote your 'jewelry of the month' club? You mention that you will require volume in order to make money as you will only be making a few dollars on each order. Have you thought about an online jewelry business? If so, you may find this site useful.

Good luck.

i would be interested in learning more about marketing mechanisms as well, as well as risk mitigation.  are there any risks that we are not seeing in this model?

Hello,

I used to sell jewelry on eBay a few years ago. I found it to be very competetive and quite up setting. I invested thousands on the jewelry I couldn't sell and ended up giving it away to family and friends and selling at consignment shops and tag sales.

I am now doing this online business I love and am learning and having fun.

Check it out if you would like and grab my FREE gift to you.

Best Wishes

Jes
