As a Ecommerce solution provider we are constantly looking for ways to help better provide our customers with the solutions and features they require. I was wondering what you look for in a shopping cart and what features matter most to you.

Any feedback you can share is greatly appreciated!

Hi Molly,

When I shop on a website, I look for the following:

  • professional website with nice/clear pictures,
  • easy to buy option,
  • contact information,
  • secure site...

Those are some of things that I look for.  Basically, a company that you want to do business with.

Now a days most of the cart are hackers and while billing they hack the information. its not the fact in all cases. while buying a cart its the responsibility of the buyer to check whether the people who provide carts are good and trustworthy. many people recommend zencart. i too tried them. its good actually but i got my cart tool from this site. Tucktail.com. i need the reply for my suggestion. do point me where i'm wrong.

Below are the things I would like to add if it would be my website

Daily deals section to give a good discount daily to bring visitors back to check it out.

Section for coupon codes where I list discount codes for specific time line.

A quick navigation to Shipping and return policy for any product with live chat or Call customer support.

Add to cart function which allows to store unlimited no of products.

A way to stay connected with the latest news via RSS or Email subscription.

If you're already an expert, go right to our section on how to review and compare shopping carts.

At the heart of any e-commerce Web site is a shopping cart program that allows customers to find and buy products and services. On this page we will try to explain in plain English what a shopping cart is, what types of shopping carts exist, and give you some tools to help you find the right shopping cart for your business.

  • Payment Processing – Many shopping cart programs offer credit card processing as well as check, PayPal or other methods of processing payments.
  • Webpage Design – Many merchants are good at selling things, not designing webpages, so some shopping cart software will include step-by-step wizards to help take the mystery out of that process – you don’t even have to know HTML.
  • Storefront Design – Step-by-step store front wizards incorporate templates and other tools to help you set up the look of your website’s storefront.
  • Inventory Control – Good shopping cart software will keep track of your inventory and generate reports automatically.
  • Shipping – Nearly all shopping carts offers a shipping tool that calculates shipping costs for customers based on parameters that you set, some can even link up to common shipping methods like FedEx or UPS.
