I am putting together a 1 page white paper with critical resources/tools to equip someone to build an internet company that dominates.

My question to you is...what are a couple important resources/tools that you suggest to check out?

Thank you so much!  This will be very helpful to a lot of people trying to achieve their dreams, and help the economy

P.S. After, many friends and family asking all about "how to start an internet biz" this will be a great help.

I used Microsoft Office Live Small business to build my website.  I built it about 2 years ago, and during those past 2 years Microsoft has made a lot of improvements to make their service super easy to use.  It is a way for a person who does not know code (and doesn`t want to hire a programmer) to create a really attractive site with shopping cart capability.  Microsoft Office Live has several cost levels.  The lowest level is free (for which you get most of the features).  I subscribe to the next level, which is $19.95 a month.  The best thing about this level, in my opinion, is that it allows me to speak on the phone with a technical support department (which answers the phone quickly and is pretty helpful).  My site is www.lisaconfetti.com, and, as I said, I was able to do it without technical knowledge or hiring a programmer.  Good luck!

Too many to list right now, but here are a few:

Joomla.org - Free CMS allows you to make a very powerful website.

HTMLDog.com - Great place to learn more about HTML and CSS

Twitter.com - Networking, plus if you follow the right people, you can learn a lot each day about news that will interest you.

Forums - Find forums on your topic and begin posting.

I`ll probably add more later.

As Heather says - there are too many to list.

"..critical resources/tools to equip someone to build an internet company that dominates. "

There are tools that address certain aspects of building an internet company.
  • Website creation tools.
  • Website SEO tools (including keyword searching, tracking, etc)
  • Website maintenance tools.
  • Website promotion tools.. which leads to various marketing tools and approaches.
  • etc....
So, the "critical" question is - what`s the focus/purpose of your whitepaper? To help people create a website or to help people get that website to "rock" (dominate)?

One of the most critical sets is to plan. This applies to any business (online or not). What the plan? Who`s your market? What`s the best way to reach them? Who are your competitors? What`s your niche?............

Hello

My suggestion would be Site Build It! - it's a complete online business-building suite of tools and processes.

The Action Guide is a comprehensive training guide, covering everything from choosing a site concept, to brainstorming keywords, choosing a domain name, right through to tools and methods on how to monetize your site.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.
