To Jeff and others who can help me,

I have contacted a couple of art website companies and briefly told them about my product.  One art company is interested and asked me to give them a sample for testing and evaluation.  They also said, "send ALL information regarding purchasing etc..."

Since I am new at this, can anyone tell me what other information I should include besides the features and benefits of the product?

As for the pricing, what is the usual format of pricing?  Can anybody show me a sample of a pricing sheet?  Do I need to break it down into quantities?

How many samples do I send? If I have 4 sizes, do I send all 4 sizes?

When they said, "send ALL information regarding purchasing etc..." - What is the "etc." part?

I really need some help and guidance because I have no experience at all.

I really don`t want to mess up my first opportunity!

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Jeannie

They want to know things like ...
  • What is your lead time? (how long till you ship?)
  • Is there a minimum quantity they need to order ? You don`t want them to order 2 @ wholesale.
  • Your shipping cost ... I know before i said retailers would pay for shipping, but this may be a real small retailer and your product is super small.
  • Will you give them 30, 60 ... days to pay? or 0 days.
  • Do they get a discount if they pay early?
  • How can they pay? paypal, credit card, check

I don`t know all the answers here.  Most people on the site aren`t seeing your question because its sort of tacked on to the end of another one. If I were you,  I would start another thread, and ask the questions again.  title it something like "Selling products to a retail web site"

Hi!

We have heard good things about the Simply Barcodes. I`ve recommended them to our clients for some time now. They are not the absolute cheapest out there but they are quick and easy to work with.

GS1 is insanely expensive unless you`re coming out with a huge pile of different products.

I hope this helps.

Hi atheneum!

Yes, that is very helpful to hear that it is a legitimate company!  Thanks!

Many catalogs and retailers puchase from established sales reps or rep organizations rather than individuals.  I launched a new product to market after creating sales sheets and posting them into the different buyers...the fact is, buyers are inundated with this material and samples...so they often purchase from people they know and trust.

You can find people like that at:

Its free. Thanks
