Hi there everyone,

I`m running a business that serves thousands of small businesses...mostly web designers and consultants.  We are making an effort we can to deliver useful content to our small business owners, and one thing we are doing is free offering teleseminars.  In two weeks we will be doing a teleseminar on start-up legal issues.  Which brings me to my question...

When you were starting out (or if you are now starting out)  what Legal Advice did you/do you NEED?

Contracts:  we are planning to address talk about contracts and how to write a good one if you are a service provider...have you learned something about contracts over the years?  Anything you can share?

Any suggestions, thoughts or insights you can provide would be a big help.  Thanks very much.

Dear Mike,

Sounds like it will be a great seminar, it has been nearly ten years since I started my first company and so it is a little hard to remember the questions I had back then.  However I have found on this form that most people ask whether they should be a S. corporation or a LLC.

If you have the credentials to discuss legal tax issues I would recommend speaking on them.  Anytime someone speaks about taxes small business owners normally turnout in droves.  I guess no one wants to pay the government.

Good luck with your seminar, I wish you great success.

Thanks very much for the advice on both fronts Erik.  Sounds like this will be a segment/teleseminar we will be able to run more than once...taxes are a huge and involved topic...could probably do a series on it with various experts...

Anyhow...thanks again.
