There are a lot of great ideas for increasing productivity.  If we all shared a tip or two, imagine how (even more) productive we might get?

One that I always mention is planning the day in 15 minute increments. It helps me remain goal-oriented and keeps me on task.

What is your tip?

My tip is to trust your subordinates more than they trust themselves and give them more demanding work.  They`ll grow and thrive and you`ll have more time to concentrate on higher level (i.e. business productive) tasks.

nice post!

as we say in our startup how-to book, "take 5 and 10."
  • 5 minutes at the beginning of the day to make sure you have your priorities in place for the rest of the day, and
  • 10 minutes at the end of the day to triage what you completed and what your focus should be tomorrow.

it`s a discipline.

Walking away from the job at hand for at least 10 minutes. Sometimes it`s having a smoke, other times, taking a nap. Otherwise, going outside to empty the garbage, check the mail....whatever. It`s to let it go periodically, and let my mind "mull" things over. In all cases, every time, I come up with a better way, different way, solution, or more elegant way to do whatever I was doing. Even if I didn`t think (realize) I was tired....or stumped.

1. Make lists.
2. Follow the list.
3. Feel productive by crossing things off and keeping the list small.

My tip may sound a bit corny but here it is, do as many simple things as possible while crossing your arms to the other side, in other words reach across yourself to pick up a pen. if it is on your right use your left hand.  sounds weird doesn`t it, heres what happens your left side is controlled by your right brain and vica versa except when your right side crosses into the right brain`s control zone then the right brain takes over.thats why you have your best ideas in the shower.
this keeps the left and right halves talking, which at least for me keeps me both focused on the task and open to creative solutions.
That and lots of lists.

my youngest son had a problem with the right half / left half connection ( he is in his mid 20`s now and fine) so we spent countless hours with specialists and doing simple yet effective exercises with him to develop a connection between halves.
my ex and I really didn`t buy in at first but I have to tell you it worked magic on "the kid" (his nickname).
I`ve always noticed that some of my best solutions came to me in the shower. the doctor actually claimed this is why some people sing great in the shower, I don`t know for sure but I`ve been doing it for years now ( not singing in the shower just crossing over often) it seems to work for me.
give it a try, what can it hurt as long as you`re not lifting anything heavy.
