How could you not be?  You`re courageous and on your way to some successful things.

For me ambition is "the drive to thrive and stay alive" - meaning that I have the drive to follow my passions while maintaining a good balance between work and my desire for a great personal life.  The "balance" part didn`t come in to my own personal ambition equation until, at the age of 35, I was told by my doctors that I was "a heart attack waiting to happen."  My definitions of "ambition" and "success" changed at that time.

Congrats on the Everyday With Rachel Ray mention, Kim.  It`s interesting that she would be the impetus for your "ambition" thread.  Not long ago I was talking with someone who has known her in a professional capacity for a long time.  He said he knew she would be an incredible success from the first time he met her - but he was now concerned about her hitting a wall and burning out if she continues at her current pace.  I do hope she is able to balance all the various aspects of her busy and very successful life.

- J.

Hi Jeff,

I think you`ve just created a new t-shirt for the SuN group...or at least a pattern on kitchen paper towels.  LOL

I`ve got to get where you are with the balance part.  You may have remembered from our StarupBuck`s thread that I was going to Vegas for some R&R (badly need btw).

I couldn`t sleep a wink, I created ideas for my upcoming trade show booth, I wrote a post for my blog...I did everything but the relax part.

Food was great though.

(I agree with the Rachel thing...I can see sometimes that she looks pooped.)

And no matter how many times someone tells you they don`t think you`re idea makes sense, you just keep saying it does!

I liked many of the comments but this one really hit home.

People without vision could have something great land right in their lap and not even knows its there,  and people like us  are jumping up and down  saying "IT`S RIGHT THERE, CAN`T YOU SEE IT???????"

kim,

by golly, i think you`re onto something here . . . .

look at my ratings . . . all because a couple of people disagreed with me . . . how sad is that??

CPS ,

I would have to agree with Kim also, I am really happy you are here.

if you want to see rating  check mine  out .  Just as I scratch myself back up to 4  someone else gives me a 1  for making a post that they didn`t understand.

But I`m only looking for a 25% market share, everybody else will just wish they could have seen that, what was sitting right in their lap.

Keep up the good work.

Mike

People sometimes tell me that because I am an Aquarian that one of the characteristics is "Vision"....which I like to hear, but also as an Aquarian, we can sometimes get frustrated when others don`t see what we see.  I believe that some of my ideas are two years ahead of their time, that``s how long it seems to take folks to catch up with me...lol

Keep plugging away, never quit.

thanks again kim!!

thanks too mike!!

Funny, i too, am an aquarian. - boy do i get frustrated when i try to get right down to the finer details, such as my post on dressing for success and polos shirts vs tshirts.  i`ve accepted that polos are the way to go, (which i really had decided two summers ago, but couldn`t really put my finger on the need for), but now the finer details . . . what colors?  what material cleans up best??  being a reseller of office supplies, i deliver the products directly to my customer and tend to get dirty lifting the boxes, but i really hate the way i look in dark colors.  i`d like to go with a rainbow of colors.  however not everyone agrees with me  -yet-  opinions??

i run this stuff past my family til they are sick of hearing it, but i need to make sure they understood eveything i am thinking . . . ya know, just in case they disagree with me  .  boy is that frustrating.   -remember it was two summers ago, i decided on the polos, but couldn`t get anyone to agree with me until i asked all of you wonderful folks and was slammed for the makeshift idea i had settled on - baseball uniform t-shirts and jeans.

kim, you may really be right on the money, again, with your ideas being two years ahead of time.  just wait - eventually everyone will see things your way.  if not, send them my way, and i`ll make sure they get it - or else

thanks again guys!

Since starting up, I`ve had to teach myself an aweful lot, I`ve learned new software packages, I`ve learned how to better guide creative types, I`ve learned how to stay calmer and more patient...

Ambition can also mean having to continually learn, until you get things right.

Ambition..

I think the power lies within the perspective. Anytime you reach above your typical expectations you are being ambitious. I`d like to shoot golf in the mid-eighties. That`s an ambitious goal for me. My mentally challenged neighbor would like to be able to ride his bike around the block alone, also very ambitious.

As somebody said earlier, It`s raising the bar. But it`s not raising it for others to jump over, it`s for you and you alone. Martha could look at Rachel and say, "not bad kid. Now try doing that while knitting a scarf in your homemade pergola that you fashioned from twigs using trees forested by the company that you founded and is earning you dividends that paid for your Santoku knife set! "

Yes, ambition is a mountain to climb and it`s our goal to climb as high as we can so we can not only enjoy the best views, but so that we enjoy the ride down for as long as we can. The trick is to not climb for so long that you die on the way up or just as you`ve reached the top. If we`re lucky we might be able to cross a whole range of mountains!
