OK, I had to chime in on this even though I have not completely read the book. So maybe am a little premature, in saying this, but … here it goes…

The book I am referring to is “StartupNation: Open for Business.” Thus far it’s inspiring (inspired me to get going on a business plan). It’s written by a couple of guys I don’t know much about though. I think I will learn more about them as time goes on.

It runs for about $11 on amazon.com.

Hi Joel (Waving)

Thanks for the welcome. I love you guys already.  I was testing the icons near my name and clicked on "rate me" to check it out. I was "told" `nice try but you can`t vote for yourelf`, that made me smile in my coffee.

No offense to anyone else, but so far, I haven`t found any of those "Help you get rich" books too helpful except for an introductory inspiration.

Here`s some helpful books I`ve read that deal with business, specific themes in business, or are just good reads.

Cosmic Questions  By Richard Morris  If anyone was ever curious about a book that makes large cosmological and astronomical questions such as dark matter, the age of the universe, the Big Bang, and the state of time, this is tbe book for you.

The Early History of Rome (Books I-V) By Livy  A comprehensive and largely interesting history of early Rome.  Even after 19 centuries, it still reads like a thrilling epic that beats out Lord of the Rings or even Shakespeare.  (The translation published by Penguin Books is recommended.)

Freakonomics By Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner Although a fairly thin read, it gives a basic look at many unexplored applications of economics and how we can use it to evaluate human society as a whole, moreso than the metrics of modern sociology alone.

They`re all available on Amazon and fairly inexpensive to get, although Livy`s Early History of Rome is fairly long and will even take experienced readers a week or so to read through.

folks,

we wrote a book you`re probably familiar with... StartupNation.

but what should our next one be? what`s a niche, a topic, an approach, or otherwise that needs to be addressed in a book?

fyi, if you just want to read an incredible story about an entrepreneur who simply would NOT give up, read, "A Thread Across the Ocean." Cyrus Field is the real life maniacal entrepreneur who created the first legit telegraph that connected europe (the old world) to America. it`s a really amazing story...

I think you guys dealt with starting up fairly well and books about starting a business are a very crowded niche.  What about growing businesses?  While half of new businesses fail in the first year, 90 percent (or another 40 percent) will fail within 5 years.  You guys have the resource of interviewing countless enterpreneurs right here on these forums to build real-life stories on how to survive the growing pains on the path to business legitamacy.  It`s a topic that I`ve rarely seen experts go into and can be something you guys can really capitalize upon with your expertise.

I loved EMyth Revisted.  The book that really stuck with me as a kid was To Kill A Mockingbird.  The book recalibrating my life today is Og Mandino`s The Greatest Salesman int he World.  As a kid I carried Harper Lee`s book around; as an adult-it is Og`s.  Enjoy!

My Absolute life changing best book is What to Say When You Talk To Yourself!  by Dr. Shad Helmstetter.

We chatter to ourselves consistantly throughout the day.  How much of it is good and positive?  We need to pay attention to that chatter.  It can and will change your life!
