I am currently engaged and is in the process of planning my wedding.  Alot of the wedding planner books i see online has to do with the UK and the USA nothing on the Caribbean.  So the idea came to me about doing my own wedding planner book. Which is really interesting. And I just have the idea of being a wedding planner part time. Are there any wedding planners here that can guide me in one way or another.

I will love to hear your ideas, pros and cons.

Also if there is anything anyone will like to see in a wedding planner book then let me know and i can add it to mine.  Hopefully it will help anyone here who will be getting married or anyone else for that matter.
There will be tips, general information and worksheets.  I am also thinking about adding a vendors list from diffrent countries.  So if there are florist and the other "what have yous" for weddings then let me know and i will add you to the vendor lists.

Thak You
Solace

PS. All ideas and opinions welcome.  Also if you have a wedding to plan and you are doing it yourself and you need some help I will be willing to help you even if it`s just to help you put your ideas in one place or to bring them together.

Hi Solace :-) Congratulations on your upcomming wedding!

From what you`ve written, it doesn`t sound as though you`d actually like to be a wedding planner. There are so many thousands of details, aggravation, and problems that I wonder if someone would want a part-time wedding planner, y`know?

On the other hand, you`re seeing a need that isn`t being filled.

What about starting a business specfically for wedding planner books around the world? If there isn`t one for the Caribbean, there likely isn`t one for other great honeymoon spots either.

If you were to put just this particular product together, then you`d build a "business to business" (B2B) business, and your target market would be wedding and event planners around the world. That`d give you the "part-time" feel to it, without getting you in over your head on the bazillion details of everything else associated with weddings. Would that work?

Hi Solace,

I had a destination wedding and wanted a local resource to answer questions about vendors, photographers, etc...  I used the knot.com but I would have loved a local "consultant," as I wanted to plan the details myself but would have liked to have a contact with a professional that knew the ins and outs of what I was interested in.  That may be an option for you.

Another option, may be to do a quarterly publication that you have advertisers pay your "salary" and all publication costs and offer the publication to brides for a nominal fee.

Hope those suggestions help!

Thank you Craig.

I see what you mean about the part time wedding planner.
But about the business for wedding planner books I will go with that one.  First I will start with one for my island then I will go for the wider caribbean.

I would like too know more about the B2B can`t remember hearing of that term before.

Thank you.

B2B is shorthand for "business to business." It basically means that one business has a service or product that it sells primarily to other businesses. We tend to mostly think of businesses from our own, customer perspective. We`re a customer, we want something, we go to a business.

So for example, if you have a house and want your yard landscaped, you would look up landscaping companies or gardners, contact one and hire them to service your yard. But suppose you`re the landscaping business and you need to purchase commercial, heavy-duty lawnmowers?

A business-to-business model has as its customers mostly other businesses. They don`t sell to the general public as much as to other businesses.

In many ways, it`s like a wholesale company. In your situation, you would be developing these wedding books, but selling them to other businesses that then sell to the general public---people getting married. A professional wedding planner would have a regular stream of new customers, and the wedding book would be only one, small part of the overall service.

To you, selling ONLY these books, you would need access to a large enough market to make it worthwhile for you to print the books. One way is to sell directly to people getting married. The downside is that they might say, "Nah, we`ll just leave all that to our wedding planner."

You would sell to the wedding planners, and they would offer your book as another part of their overall services. There`s no reason why you also couldn`t sell directly to the public, but perhaps that wouldn`t be your main focus---your primary or target market.

Does that help clear things up a bit?

Congrats!!! Definitely you should look for a wedding planner as wedding is really very important and prosperous occasion for everyone and no one want to miss any single event. Wedding planners know that what should be special in your wedding and how to make wedding day special.
