Well, here goes!

Check out my site.  There are a few things that I know I want to fix (slow load time, etc.) but anyone have any other suggestions or thoughts.  My goal with this site was to create a mobile "business card"... a way for retailers a large distance away from me to look at my products and gain information.  It`s also eventually going to be ecommerce site.

It took 2-3 weeks to complete.   Using Adobe Creative suite (with dreamweaver).

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

p.s. the `our beds` page is waiting for pictures.  As is the store itself (which is why there`s no inventory yet)

I see a couple of huge issues right away.
  • You home page has no content. I have to click to get anything.
  • All of the content you do have is contained within images. This is SEO suicide, and basically breaks every basic rule of the web.
  • Your contact page is not lined up correctly on FF2.
  • The design of your pending store is completely different from the non-store site. Be consistent. BTW, the store design in much better, go with that.
I apologize for being blunt, but...well...I`m not really sorry.

I agree about the store page being a different layout and style.  It really threw me for a loop because I lost the navigation.

You do not need your homepage at all.  Make the home one of your content pages and get your customers right into the product.

Also, the `About Us` and `Our Beds` pages can be combined somehow or split up somehow.  You don`t need two pages of copy about your company.  One will do.  You can put some of the info about beds on the store page.  Besides, when I clicked on `Our Beds`, I expected to go to a store selling the beds, or at least see products with sizes, fabrics, etc.

It`s a good start, keep improving!

Odd, when I reached your landing page it was the gray background and the dogs logo. Then I browsed around until I went to Products. From there, I clicked "home" and ended up on a different home page. So I`m goin` with Steve---keep it consistent, one way or the other.

Another issue I have is that paragraphs should have space between them. That`s common best practices across the board, in Web or paper writing.

Then there`s the thing about the categories, on the products page. I think "category" throws me off because I`m thinking you have different types of beds or products. If I`m seeing it right, this might better be called "Styles?" It seems to be the style of fabric used to make a somewhat standard bed?

Why are there more websites popping up, such as yours, that do not use the whole page?
I use both IE7 & Firefox, it looks the same in both.

I have standard settings on my PC and 99% of sites fill the whole page (widthwise), it is just recently I have been finding more of these narrow pages.

Plus the 2 home pages is confusing.

Clicking on Our Store (from http://www.chewiedog.com) takes you to http://www.chewiedog.ecrater.com/ and here clicking on Home does nothing (it`s not active).

However if you select one of the fabrics, then the Home link, it is active but it just takes you back to http://www.chewiedog.ecrater.com/ not your main homepage.

Don`t forget pics of tired doggies napping in luxury.
