I designed and submitted my website, www.sandysshimmeryshoulders.com , to the search engines Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo.  The site shows in the directory with question (?) marks and states that the site has not been reviewed.  What does this mean?  Submission was done approximately a year ago.

Having a new business with limited funds, I decided to design my own website.  I feel very comfortable with the outcome, however, I would appreciate any feedback from anyone that would view the site.

Have I included what a prospective buyer needs to know?
Is the site to wordy?
How about the organization of material?

Any advice, comments, and/or suggestions,  will be received objectively.

Thanks for your help.

I like the layout of the site and it`s pretty easy to navigate.  I get the concept right off the bat,

I am the wrong person to say anything about SEO, but here`s two things I found....  First, all of the photos are out of focus.  Second, something in the source doesn`t look right.  Your page is built on tables, and the main content is over 11,000 characters.  I don`t know if there`s any effect on the search spider.

Your meta tags are OK, but reportedly, search engines don`t pay much attention to the meta tags any longer.  But your page titles need to be more descriptive.

Out of curiosity, I Googled "beaded bra straps", and your site wasn`t in the first three pages.  There`s something fundamentally wrong that is stopping the search bots from indexing your page.

Someone else?

Hi Mr. Mann,
Thank you very much for taking the time to view my site.  Your input is very much  appreciated.  I will attempt to correct the focus on the photos and also edit the page titles as you suggested.

I am not, by any means, computer savvy, so your response has been a tremendous help.  I have no idea as to how to correct the source or the fact that the pages are built on tables with the content containing more than 11,000, characters.  That will take a little more time to correct because I will have to research those items to learn how it`s done.

Thanks again for your help,

Hi Sandy,
Great product.  If I wore a bra, I`d probably be replacing my straps.  One thing that isn`t clear to me though is HOW to order them...  It appears that I am supposed to contact your company directly, which is fine..  but then on the product info page there is a PayPal link, so I was looking again for a way to order online.
What I would like to see is the details on how to buy these right after the initial description of them.  Something like "To Order Call 333-555-4444!"   Just a thought.
Best of luck,
Charlie

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the positive feedback and suggestions.

Your idea is terrific!  I want to say "Thank you" for making time available to look at my website.  I am taking your suggestion and getting the clarification of HOW to ORDER edited into the site immediately if not sooner.

Thanks again,
Sandy

Dear Sandy,

I looked at your website.....presently it is a PR2 site in Google with Alexa traffic rank of:  6425,704 and since you are telling that it is on-line more than a year...it definitely should have performed better.

Your niche is good but required a more disciplined step by step approach. The problems as I can see are many starting from choosing the domain name, selecting a keyword and the both the onpage and off-page criterias. The problems are so many it might not be possible to highlight by this post.

Making a website is no big deal these days but what matters is coming in 20 results in Google for your main theme keyword....else your website is likely to be drowned uner the tons of other websites. What happens ultimately is that you end up spending much more than what you could have spend at the beginning for the right resource.

For example you have already hosted your website for more than a year and when u say submitted to Yahoo directory u must have spent $299 and you found it is not listed. You could have been in top 3% of all websites if you would have just spent $299.

What people falis to understand is this aspect. They think wishfully that mere designing a website can make them the money. They don`t understand that they need to invest in the right tools.

OK, since you told you are taking suggestions with an open mind.....I would request you to visit this website http://videotour.sitesell.com/2magicweb.html if you are not aware of this already...believe me it is just value for money. All tools at one place. 67% of the websites made out of here are positioned on top of the 3% rank out of all websites.

You get everything from step by step video training, webhositng, niche finding tool, keyword research, auto mail responders, your ezines to your visitors, SEO, link/value exchange forum. And a family like on-line forum community to help you in any issues. It is really not possible to tell you in short the value unless you experience this.

Hi Mr./Ms. Saikat,

Thanks for the useful information.  I will take your advice into consideration.  I am not computer savvy and my budget is limited, however, your advice is appreciated.  I viewed the on-line video tour at the link that you included with your post, and found it to be informative.  I was unable to download the trial or find the cost of the product, but I want to thank you again for taking the time to highlight the areas of concern on my site,

Respectfully,
Sandra

Dear Sandra,

Thanks for the mail. The price of one SBI is $299 a year. Now a special `Halloween` offer is on going, where you get two SBI websites for $399 (instead of $598). One you need to have for yourself and one you can either gift or sell to any of your friend relative etc. It includes your domain, hosting, keyword tool, brain stormer, auto mail responders, SEO, link/value exchange, a great forum to support and much much more. The video step by step action guide itself is unique.

Normally you spend atleast $60 a year for hosting, $240($20 per month) on auto responders and forget about those directory submission and others. This should be the minimum spend to run a website for business. So actually you spend much more for normal ones. SBI has all tool in place so you need not break your head for anything else. They also have a gurantee which is unparallel. First 30 days money back (but first you need to pay). Then subsequently the money will be returned on prorata basis. For eg. you decide to opt out(never happened) after 6 months you will get back 50%. It gives you a gurantee with a teeth.

I provide below the 1) video action guide link 2) Some SBI sample sites and 3) Order link.

You are welcome to ask me any questions or doubts.

Warm wishes,

Mr.Saikat Ganguly

yahoo12 is correct on the page rank and Alexa rank. I think he/she should have added that there is no sitemap, and no robots.txt
Add an XML sitemap, that will help most search engines, add a .txt sitemap for the others.
This will help the bots know where, and where not to go.
The site looks nice and is a good showing of your product, however, I was searching all over for the shopping cart.
In this age of shopping on-line, you almost have to have you`re own cart. I`m not sure what Microsoft Live offers but I think you need some kind of solution for on-line shoppers.
Personally, I`ve used Zencart which is good, but takes a bit to learn. I`m sure you can find an easier one to implement though.
Hope this helps, and I wish you the most success.

Hi Bluto,

This is really a great forum community because everyone has been very helpful.  I am not computer savvy, so I really appreciate the advice and information that you have given me.  I will make an attempt with the XML sitemap and the robots.txt

I have been looking for an easy-to-use shopping cart program, which I hope to add to my site in the very near future.

Your words of encouragement are most appreciated.

Thanks again,
Sandra
