Me and my Husband just started our business as Wedding Photographers this  year. I partially designed my website. But a Professional Web designer put the finishing touches on it and makes it all work together.  I just got a logo designed for my business and we put it on the website.

If you could visit my website and tell me if your were a  Bride to be would you give us a call? What would encourage you to call and what would cause you not to call. I don`t get very many visits to my site. The only time I get calls is if I go to Bridal Shows.

my website is: www.specialoccasionsphotographystudio.com

I appreciate sincere evaluations. Good or Bad. I need to know what to keep on my website and what to change.

Thank You very much for your time

Hi!

So far so good!

I would emphasize Brides more... you know we gals always like to review beautiful gowns... lol

I like the way your slide show offers different shots you`ve taken. Put your most creative shots on, When I was a bride I searched for photographers that liked to be creative, and with the advent of pc software that is so possible!

Best of luck to you!

And stop by www.themerrybird.com

I`ll be offering more than hand drawn custom invitations, I`ll have a Wedding invitation line (custom printed) to offer this fall/winter.

Thank You for the advice. Within the next couple days I will be adding photographs from my last wedding. Like you suggested I will add several photographs of the Bride`s dress.

I like your idea of adding creative shots. I have some fairly creative shots that I worked with in my Photography Program. I am going to add several of them to my website also.

Check back in a few days, my new photographs should be up then. I`m going to add shots from all my weddings this year. I will concentrate on gowns more and being creative.

Thank You         &nb sp;         &nb sp;         &nb sp;    I went to your website, I will check back

in September

The landing page is really not working for me ... this portal approach gives people too many choices, which in some cases means most people would just click off. I think you need something focused that tells us what makes you special, and then have the services you offer.

After looking through a few pages - I have more questions than answers, and that is a problem.

Your photographs are beautiful ... you really need to find a better way to display them, evoking the emotion of wedding photography as well as what you uniquely offer to the person purchasing your services. Those books are wonderful as well. Showcase them!

In general, I avoid "click here" and "enter here". If you have to tell someone, it`s not obvious enough, and it needs changed. Several pages opened in new windows as well - it`s generally best to avoid this. The album page has text that is too wide, and there`s no typography to catch my eye ... it`s just all one long series of words with nothing standing out. That amount of information can be conveyed in half the text.

Hi Trendy,

I think you should break down and pay to have the site professionally designed. I think people who are spending money for wedding photos would need to see something more professional and a lot more appealing.

Your photographs are too beautiful and I think your existing layout cheapens the look and quality of your work.

Women (or their parents) are spending a great sum of money for their weddings and everything has got to look beautiful (and I think the impression they get after hitting your homepage won`t be a great one).

The impression I get from the site is "scattered."

It needs a consolidating theme of some sort, a way for the bride to move along a track toward a purchase of your services.

"Hmm...I need a wedding photographer. Wonder what`s out there?" (Google search for `wedding photographers.`)

Your site is "not found" because there`s very little on the front page about WEDDING photography. "Special occasions," yes. But that`s like my nephew`s Bar Mitzvah. :-D

I did Enter there....and couldn`t get back to the home page, at least as far as I could see. So I had to use the "back" button. Needs better navigation.

But the pictures sure do look nice! :-D

You`ve given me a lot to think about. I hate the landing page myself. I have to talk to the person who changes items on my website about what we can do.

I`ve got to think of a better way to display my pictures. Thank You everyone for your nice comments about the pictures. I need a way to display the pictures that is easy to navigate and doesn`t take a long time to load. I`ve seen a lot of photographers websites where the pictures take over a minute for each one to download.

Like everyone said I`ve got to do something to make my website look more professional.

I`m going to showcase the wedding books more. The Brides love them. I`m going to take some pictures of my latest Wedding Book I designed and put the pictures on the website.

I`ve got a lot of thinking to do.  I can`t believe how great everyone`s advice is.

I personally think the pink page color is too hard on the eyes after a few minutes, and the current text is not easy to read on top of the pink color.

As I mentioned in another thread, consistent page layouts would be helpful .... when they all seem different, it does not convey, to me anyway, any form of organization.

I expect a "professional wedding photograpy site" to present a "professional" image. I do not get that feeling from your site. Part of that is the lack of an intuative or consistant navigation/menu system.

There are a number of ways to display your work. An example of one simple display method to show images on a page.

I agree some "professional" web design help is needed.

I`m not sure how quickly it would load, but I bought a copy of FlipAlbum to make a place to store photographs on my desktop. It`s really cool, easy to learn, and so forth. They make a version for displaying photos online too, and it might be an option for showing off your wedding books. You can see how it works from their main Web site.
