Do you have a background in a medical profession, Keith? Doctor? Nurse? I`m in my senior year of nursing school, and I think your website is pretty cool........unfortunately, I don`t have incredible background to give you a sound critique about the layout/feel/direction of the site, but, I do think others have touched upon everything I initially thought about it.....not bad...

What is it about the infrastructure that`s hard to replicate here?

I don`t, but I just run the business side of it.  All of the RD`s that work with us are actually clinical directors in local hospitals, they all have extensive medical back round.

Best of luck in your nursing career!

Infilta - the network of registered dietitians, but I think the real issue is the money.

Keith, it`s sad that you spent so much time and money on the project.
For how much you say you spent on it the site it just does not have that look and feel of something revolutionary new or cool. Moreover, with the number of recommended improvements and more that were suggested here and more that I see now (such as you "add to cart" button that looks like a shopping cart but not explicit enough - that`s not the way users are used to seeing "add to cart" button) and the fact that`s it`s just an online store (unless you have a massive back end that allows drop shipping etc), it kinda seems like a waste. Like I said, I don`t know what`s the "infrastructure" behind it but if this is what I think this is then you could have made something better looking and functional for a fraction of what you paid.

PS  And I hope you don`t take offense, I know you can`t reverse it and you probably feel same way I do about it except that it was YOUR money.

infilta - What we actually sell is a service. (There is another short coming of the site)  People with difficult disease issues that have a nutrition component to the disease, we provide medical nutrition therapy to support the patient.  As an example, some one who has had weight loss surgery, we provide the pre-op counseling and insurance qualification compliance and post-op we provide nutrition counseling for the appropriate diet stages and the long term follow up and support.  We really don`t sell a product, except for two blood test.

In terms of the back end on the site, it is quite extensive.  Not only do we manage the patient`s records and all the HIPPA regulations that go along with it, but we basically have a virtual office for each registered dietitian.  There are queue issues, because there is complete continuity of care.  In other words you always see the same RD. There are other issues that I just don`t understand and can`t describe.

What I have described is just part of it and the medical condition I used is actually one of the easier issues to deal with and I didn`t mention we also do pediatrics, failure to thrive and that sort of thing.  We`ve basically taken what you used to get only in a hospital setting or out patient setting and moved it to the web.

I hope that clears it up a bit.  I agree that we got taken on the price and I accept full responsibility for that and I truly appreciate all of the issues that you and others have pointed out.  In terms of bringing some thing revolutionary to the web, I wouldn`t go that far, but we are the only ones doing this.  Nothing on our site is canned or generated by the site.  Everything is generated by a registered dietitian for a specific person with very specific issues.  We are not EDiets.

I realize that it is impossible to see the whole picture in just looking at the site and my poor description, so the last thing I am  is offended.  Thank you again.

Dear Keith,

I just been to your site. I can see that you are trying to give the consumer an easy way to get ans RD.  That`s great as a diabetic, I am really glad you have a section that talks about the Ac1 test many sites don`t. As for your other fields they do get important information. Now I am speaking as a web strategist now. $100,000. 000 for this site was a bit much. Did you talk with the web developer about how your site was to be marketed before any of the work was done? If not that was a mistake. As ffor the site it self there are some flaws that can be corrected, but the most important part getting to the information  is quite easy. Nine months this was too long for what you got. Let me ask you do you have to pay for updates or is that part of your contract for at least a year of maintainance from a web master assigned to your site? Are you listed on the major search engines like, Yahoo, google, Lycos or MSN? Have you though of creating a myspace page as a way to quickly get your message a cross? These are just a few questions you should ask your web developer while you are making changes to your site. Remember the worst website can bring in big dollars if the message is clear and speaks to the needs of the client while the best most expensive website will yield nothing if the message does not speak to the cilent needs. So don`t get to hung up on looks. Make sure your message reach the right buyer and sales are generated that`s the bottom line of any website that sales a product or service. Thanks

OK, just what I see in the back end of your site .....

1) Your site is not W3C compliant; the main page has 58 coding errors.
2) Your css files have errors.
3) Code to content ratio: 4.1 %
4) Spider simulation:
" personalized online nutrition therapy register login search web site there are no bad foods only bad habits could our service help someone you know tell a friend july 1 2008 go to home welcome to enutritioncare com home our specialties how it works store copyright 2008 by xcel nutrition therapy inc terms of use privacy statement "

They might have made a pretty site, but the coding is bloated, poor, and not effective for SEO. I would demand that it all be fixed now at no charge to you; they`ve already soaked you on what you paid.

Another important concern - aside from the obvious coding and SEO errors, is. . .how are your visitors reacting to your site?  Simple (and free) analytics should tell you:

1) your conversion rate
2) how long your visitors are staying on each page
3) where your traffic is coming from
4) repeat visitors vs. unique visitors
etc.

If visitors are staying around and you have a low bounce rate - and you have a good conversion rate - you may be more on track than you thought.  Suggestions are great, but testing and tracking is where you are going to get your real, take-it-to-the-bank information.

Best!
Stephanie

P.S.  Don`t fall into the trap of thinking your website is "done" - it`s never done.  You should always be testing and tracking for the best control.
