I am requesting input on my first and only website:www.judecraftspecialtyfoods.com  My fiance is the webmaster and is self taught. He uses a software system which has limitations on formatting etc. We both would appreciate input either way as we are ultimately  looking for a website optimization firm that is reasonably priced and can bring the site to an improved quality level for improved positioning. Recommendations please.

Thank you,

Judi at Judecraft Specialty  Foods

Where do I get myself a Patriots Ceramic crock? I thought it would be a link but it wasn`t. I want one!

You have some centered text that probably should be in the actual center, not center-left.

You have a lot of text at the bottom, and some at the top that really doesn`t go anywhere. You need to shorten it up and make it a clear statement about your offer with a call to action. Try this article on copywriting.

The big pictures of the packets shows me nothing - I`d like to see the dips in action like the one at the top. Presentation is everything when you are looking at food on the internet ... make my mouth water! Maybe you can invest in some professional photos. A few dollars in the beginning is worth thousands later ...

Hello Judi:

First of all, instead of having your domain name in big letters across the top of your home page...which really serves no useful purpose...why not replace it with a compelling and benefit laden headline?

In other words, "What`s in it for me?"

That will at least make visitors to your site curious enough to want to hang around a little longer and investigate further.

The longer prospects remain on your website, the greater chance you have of turning them into paying customers.

Also, you should put yourself in your prospects shoes and think of all the potential questions they might have and make a FAQ page.

This will help you convert more lookers into buyers.

Best of luck with your new venture!

I`m using a 19" LCD panel, at 1280x1024 resolution. And the screen STILL was too small to easily see your home page! Way too large.

The content at the bottom should at least be referenced "above the fold," where people can choose to scroll, or not. The images could use some "balance" in terms of layout. Right now, there`s a long column of left-sided images. Then, after they finish, the site expands outward to the right. It`s oddly disquieting.

Like Nikole, I expected the images on the far left to be part of a navigation bar, with clickable links. They`re not, so I don`t really understand their function.

You might want to take a look a Nvu, a free but powerful web editing tool.
