I suppose I should`ve titled this "Holiday Music," but y`know what? I don`t care! I call it Christmas, and when I see people around this time of year, I say, "Have a nice Christmas."

Anyway, Kathy and I bumped into this radio station--streamed---and it does a nice job of mixing up the music. It`s not all one genre, hardly any breaks or commercials, and doesn`t have that damnfool song about the kid who`s mommy needs frickin` shoes!

North Pole Radio

Any other stations people really like?

Craig -

Thanks, I was just wondering about this very thing.  Almost like you read my mind.

Hey wait a minute...  Are you a psychologicalist or something???

I use Pandora.
www.pandora.com
Has anyone else tried it?
Then I create a radio station, like Blue Christmas or White Christmas.
Every once in a while a David Hasslehoff tunes slips in, but it`s pretty close.

I`ve used Pandora and had two problems. The first is that their basic "genre" station, the one they created, is a bit too classical-oriented for my taste. Secondly, when I tried to configure it to more populist songs, they don`t have the licensing right to play a lot of those songs. After the July 07 changes in the law, a lot of these stations can`t access so much music anymore.

Live365 is problematic as well, continually needing paying subscribers. But if you don`t actively click their player each hour, it shuts down. I don`t mind being asked to join and pay money, but I don`t like having to switch out of what I`m doing, just to continue listening to a radio station.

Hi Craig,

Thank you for the heads up.  I`ve been looking for a streaming Christmas station, but most of the free ones are bogged down with commercials.  Thanks again!

I listen to Pandora when I want to hear some jazz. I seem to have managed to teach it how to provide me with jazz music I like.

Thanks for the heads up on the christmas station!

Here`s where we picked up the North Pole channel. They have other Christmas music streamed: Web Radio.

Be advised, I was playing one of their channels at work, where we have Avasti, and it popped up a trojan warning. I`m thinking it`s either trying to send a cookie, or some sort of non-destructive ad-tracking thing, but I can`t remember which channel it would`ve been. I kow the North Pole channel is fine and clean, but keep an eye on things.

As always, make sure you use a firewall, and for those Windows users, you might look into something like SpyBot`s "TeaTimer." It`s a tiny resident program that watches your Registry. It`s free, comes with Spybot Search & Destroy, and ANY change causes it to put up a warning, where you can choose to accept or deny.
