Okay ... I hate to say this, but ... is this site really that big?
I mean, how many pages do you have? 10?
Amazon doesn`t have folders. All the ///s you see are fake. They have a database, the application, and a rewrite program that links each product to that long URL.
We don`t have that many pages for the site, but we use the domain for
ad pages on other sites. For example, each eBay ad uses a fair number
of images. We could host them on Village Photos, as we used to do, but
we prefer keeping them on our site for re-use in other ads like those
on Etsy.com
I can see, however, that as we start actually building a site rather
than a "flyer," there`ll be a lot more documents. Heck, you know how
much I write, so content isn`t a problem. But for example, we`ll have a
page for the history of signal flags. We have a page that explains
about our flags.
I`m thinking there should be a folder for "history," and related
content and images, but a separate folder for "about flags" and that
different content and images. That`s how I`d organize a project on a
hard drive. I`m wondering if there`s a fundamental difference between
organzing a local hard drive versus a server domain folder.
I`m interested in this database thing. Roland mentioned it, but I
didn`t understand the context apparently. Now, with the additional
mention of Amazon, I`m starting to get a sense of something I`m not at
all familiar with. I`ll look into it. :-) Thanks.
