Your message brings back many fond memories of my days working with the late, great Chief MKO Abiola, the Baba Adini of Yorubaland. During the middle1980s, I traveled many times to Lagos working with the Nigerian Signal Corps and the Nigerian State Police on Telecommunication projects. Chief Abiola at the time was our local Agent (Harris Corporation) and in the middle 1980s, I was actually on Lagos TV representing the Nigerian Signal Corps.

I would be very interested in hearing about your opportunity as I have worked in 54 countries throughout my career and I have many key contacts throughout the global marketplace - notably the GCC and the Far East. I know what you mean, amacgi1...I get many NW Africa scam letters/email (not just from Nigeria)! However, I always look at each opportunity as there is quite a bit of business to be developed for the Western world in NW Africa (Oil, Telecom, Education, Entrepreneurism...) BUT you have to know how to do business in NW Africa and Chief MKO Abiola taught me well in the 1980s.

He was elected President of Nigeria in the early 1990s and subsequently assassinated a year later by Who knows Who??? We say the military and they say the US "Unmentionables"....

I was recently in contact with a local Chief in Ghana about an opportunity to develop a project based at the University of Ghana in Accra using the concepts of Thomas Friedman`s book "The World is Flat". It could very well "open" the flood gates of pent-up demand in NW Africa....

Ah, the great nigerian scams, so pretty much popular all over the internet. Its become quite a joke though as probably everyone who has been surfing the net for sometime has either read about it or met someone who has got one of those.

Nevertheless there are excellent opportunities to be harnessed for anyone who knows how to do business there as mentioned by Joe.

I think stereotyping is pretty much comman nowadays and it has no place in business. Ofcourse due diligence is required for every business venture.

Joe, it is nice to read comments from someone so experienced. Let me know if I can help in anyway. I have tried to do a little groundwork in South Africa and things look promising. Still Africa, Asia and middle east are the markets that I can see lot of potential in.
