I just took a walk at lunch. I had already eaten a sandwich at my desk (peanut butter & jelly). I just wanted a walk break. I walked by 2 movie theaters & thought how cool, and creative-thinking-mind-changing, it would be to watch 45 minutes of a movie during my lunch hour.

But the idea of shelling out 8 bucks to watch 1/2 of a movie didn`t appeal.

Now ... if the theater would let me watch 1/2 the movie & bring my ticket stub back later in the week to watch the 2nd half, I would have done it.

As it is, they got zero dollars from me. And they`ll get zero dollars from me during the work-day for the entire year, every year that I`m still alive.

If they gave me a 1-2pm movie-start-time pass for the month, I`d pay maybe $15-20 for that. AND I`d bring my teammates with me. We`d watch 45 minutes of a movie once/twice per week. Heck, I`d give then $100 for a year`s pass of Mon-Fri 1-2p movie start times.

How can you employ such a wacky idea to your biz?

I`ll give you half a cookie today and the other half tomorrow.

I don`t think so.

But don`t stop throwing out ideas - I`m still working on your idea for giving away products free.

Actually, just the other day we sent two cases of cookies to a Celiac support group for 150 people who will be meeting this weekend in the Maryland/DC area.

C`mon Steve! OK, how `bout you make arrangements with my local movie theater to sell your cookies as a part of their monthly/annual package deal? It might actually be a catchy marketing thing to get 1/2 a cookie per show. Work with me here!

(for those who don`t know, Steve & I really are friends & like each other - we just have a unique manner of motivating one another - right Steve?)

Sounds good to me.

You got me thinking. Would those be the theatres owned by the Ilitch family? If I got my foot in that door maybe we could have guys selling our cookies at Tiger and Red Wing games.

I can see the vendors at sporting events calling it out right now ...

"Half of a Cookie!! Get your Gluten-Free half of a Cookie right here!!"

Wait...I`ve got a brainstorm! Why not "Movie-watching Nannies!" You pay someone to go watch the whole movie, then come back and give you a summary of the first half one day, then the conclusion the next? :-D

Oh c`mon...it`s BRILLIANT!!  LOL!

I think there`s a germ of an idea here, though. I like the idea of a "movie pass" for a set period of time. The problem would be enforcement. Do you have The Movie Pass Police who come and check your pass at the top of each hour?

Or do you have the movie stop at the top of each hour, then they check? Or how about a beeper-bracelet, that lights up at the expired time allotment moment? A police-person would then come throw you bodily into the street in a traditionally undignified manner.

You could sign up for a course on some psychic Web site to learn more about "remote viewing," in which case you could stay at your desk, but sneak into the movie through clairvoyant skills AND practice your lessons at the same time!

hmm...gimme time and I`ll think up some more ideas! :-) But I`ll only give you half of them today....and the rest.....

Then there`s the entire social cultural catastrophe that would come about should this idea catch on. Say for example you`ve just gotten married and you`re on your honeymoon. You go to your new wife and say you want half your sex this afternoon, and you`ll be back tomorrow to finish. How would THAT fly!?

From my view no idea is out of line and it`s great to post them to get perspective. I have just recently started to feel ok letting out the ideas to whoever and get feedback. Every business, product or service was someone`s idea at some point!

Maybe it`s not full movies..they are short films, documentaries or other

It`s a catchy idea for sure... the theatre would make it`s money upfront not to mention the money from the goodies (popcorn, candy, drinks, ect.). It`s kind of like banking on the person to remember that they have a pass. Most people would forget and pay for a ticket per visit.

how about a general pass, and if the person wants to watch 45 minutes of a movie they can and just come back whenever...

maybe i came into this conversation a bit late... lol...
