If there is an area of knowledge that you are particularly strong in, you may want to consider registering as an expert on a Q&A site that pays its experts. Techdirt is the only example that springs to mind right now but there are probably better ones. Note that with your skills, you don`t necessarily have to have all the answers but should be able to find them quickly.
Another way is to find an area that is of interest to a wide range of people and start a blog that unearths interesting and otherwise unavailable facts/news about this area of interest. I would suggest that personal improvement and entertainment are two of such areas. As an example, see what Steve Pavlina has done with his blog, writing on subjects ranging from how to wake up early in the morning to how to make money from your blog.
Finally, it seems to me that you have half an idea about the sort of business you want to pursue. You may therefore want to try idea tagging. Besides, being a researcher/analyst type you might find it fun unravelling other people`s clues on the site. Check it out to see what I mean. Good luck finding an idea.

If I`ve learned anything over the
course of my week, it`s that in a brainstorming session, as someone
begins to "hold" a position, it`s because that`s their true intent, or
true desire.
