I am planning to sell powersports vehicles, ATV, motorcycles, etc. These items have been imported from China, and the importer is about 5 min. from my house. My question is, do you think that I would be able to sell these items by printing my own catalog and placing them in locations such as gas stations or book stores. I will have the ability to ship them anywhere in the states.

The reason for my thoughts of a catalog is that I will not have to stock anything. I will have the ability to drop ship these items, or they will be available for local pick up.

And if anyone knows how much catalogs cost let me know!

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!

Hello. Catalogs can be a bit pricey, the more pages, the more money. You might want to think about a sell sheet or tri-fold brochure or even a rack card. (I have a unique dual-purpose rack card I can tell you about if you are interested.)

Just curious, where do you want to place your catalogs?

Why don`t you do indirect sales by starting a classifieds that everyone can post to. This way, you can catalog everything you have and have people with interests, and something that many people can talk about.

Hi CSPURGEON,

I am assuming you have a web site set up already and it has a complete listing of the items you will be selling (along with Photos).   I am also assuming that you and the importer have a signed agreement that he will not compete against you for sales.

That being said, I go along with JDawg.  Catalogs are expensive to print up.   I researched just having a black and white version of an existing catalog printed.  Cheapest price I received was $1,400.00 for 30 copies .  Also, most prints shops would not even quote an order this small.

You might be better off designing a product line card for local distribution.  You can do this on most home computers.
