I have found out that a version of an idea I was pursuing has been patented in the past.  I am not in a position to pursue manufacturing the product myself, but do you see any benefit in approaching a company who I feel can really benefit from this this idea?

i.e. Is there any way for me to profit from making a company aware of a technology that they can capalitize on?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks  GREGG

Hi! Once it expires it is public domain. At least that`s how it was a few years ago when I was patenting stuff.

Is your idea an improvement on their patent? Is your idea patentable possibly? If so you can try to get a patent and license it to them, or someone else. If not, then you probably won`t gain anything from it, unless maybe you become a consultant of some kind.
