If your are going to be pursuing this as just a part-time hobby, I wouldn`t let the URL give you too much trouble.  Finding an available one can be trouble enough.  I think the Squink Studios is a creative and clever name with a `fun` spin. Your logo and name are great, but I see your point with its appropriateness to your audience.  I would disagree that the name insinuates `amateurism`, but as I questioned is it appropriate for the audience your marketing to?

It looks like you mostly do buildings / real estate.  Can you incorporate that into the name somehow?  If you are looking to keep the play on words with "ink", how about something like:  RenderinkStudios.com  Something perhaps with `renderink`, based from the term `rendering` which means to "represent or depict artistically."

Even if you decided to change it, I`d hold onto the SquinkStudios name.  It may come in handy someday.

Hi everyone!  I haven`t really worked on this hobby site in months, mainly because I`m stuck on the Web name/URL.  The idea is pretty simple; I would sell hand made pen and ink illustrations to private home owners and companies looking for lobby art.  I used to do this as a hobby when I was younger and I enjoy drawing but I`d like to make a few dollars doing it, so I plan on raising the prices so much so that I only do a few large drawings a year.  I could use some help on the URL name.  I was thinking a play on words with ink, so I came up with www.squinkstudios.com squid/ink - get it?  But it seemed kind of amateurish.  Well here`s a "very rough" draft of the site http://squinkstudios.awardspace.com/index.htm, and when I say rough I mean it, links don’t work, text isn’t complete, etc, etc.  But without a solid URL/Web address it’s hard to finish the design and layout theme.  Anyways let me know your thoughts and thanks a ton!!!  Jason

Instead of insinuating squink = squid ink, why not just call it Squid Ink Studios -- squidinkstudios.com (keep it simple and always assume that MOST people won`t get it... so it`s to your benefit to make it so they will "get it")

I totally did not get that squink=squid ink until you told me.  The site is simple to navigate.  Your artwork is very good, but I had trouble viewing it.  Your gallery had a popup that took me to Yahoo! (in the gallery).  That really needs to be taken care of.  You have to display your product in order to entice customers.  Ordering instructions are cleanly displayed.  It has potential.  Don`t let the name get you bogged down.  You are an artist, focus on the art.

Good luck!

I went with JTuckerStudios.com and am going to change the design slightly to include Web design services, wall mural painting (which my sister does in VA), pen and ink, and hotel reprin art.  Thanks for the comments!  I`ll keep you posted once we have the new design finished and launched! Jas
