I`m a boomer who began looking for a way to create income for retirement about eight years ago.  I wanted something that had the potential to be lucrative enough to support me in retirement, but not so restricting that I wouldn`t have the flexibility and freedom to do it when I wanted and where I wanted.  I didn`t want employees, nor did I want a big up-front investment (that`s not asking for much, is it?).  Believe it or not, I have found it and I`ve never had so much fun in my life.

Now don`t start throwing things at me, but I`m talking about Network Marketing (I know, those stupid, scammy pyramid deals).  I would simply ask you to think about where else a person can find an income-producing business for a few hundred dollars.  Not easy to do.  I know Network Marketing has a terrible reputation, but technology and the internet has drastically changed the way a NWM business is operated.  Rather than try to explain that here, I have a link that will explain it much better than I can.  It has nothing to do with any individual company or product.  It is a generic site that has a presentation by a Network Marketer with a contribution from a professor of Network Marketing at the University of Illinois-Chicago who has an MBA in Marketing from Harvard University.  Just go to www.explorefreedom.com/dougleedy and see what YOU think.

If you are here because you would like to start a business but aren`t sure how to go about it or what to do, this might help give you some ideas that maybe you have overlooked.  I hope it helps you and sparks some conversation.

Craig,

There are hundreds, if not thousnds of NWM companies out there. Everything from nutritional and weight loss products to pet care, household and personal care products to telephone, gas and electric service to travel and health or legal insurance plans, to name just a few. Over 85 billion dollars worth of products are moved annually through NWM.

More and more companies are becoming involve in NWM because of its inherent efficiencies. After all, what company wouldn`t want to distribute product nationally (or internationally, for that matter) and not have to pay out a dime until product is sold? That makes alot of sense to companies that are looking for ways to become more competitive in today`s marketplace.

I`m curious, what is the reason for your question?

We`ve had a lot of discussion on MLMs, network and affiliate marketing, and your initial post sounded like a sales letter. One way to examine the idea is to at least understand that something tangible is being sold. :-)

there is no such thing as turn key.  there may be, but you will have to "turn the key" with just as much hard work and dedication as any other business.  that said, anyone in my opinion can (or at least has the potential to) take any business and make it successful....it is the variables that differentiate us (the doers) from one another.

with MLM, i have seen so many people jump around from one to another.  there are many good models out there with good product.  there are discussions on SUN dedicated to those.  with proper passion and focus one can achive a good deal of success there is no doubt in that.

Craig,

If you go to the link I provided you will see that it is generic regarding NWM and does not relate to any individual company. I wanted to avoid that. But since you asked, mine is primarily electricity and natural gas :-)

Webjunky,

I just meant you get an entire management team that handles shipping, payouts, tracking, education and so forth in addition to an upline that is supposed to support, train and aid you in growing your business. Of course there are no guarantees anywhere in life, but I think NWM offers the average person the best chance of success with the smallest investment of any business model out there.

i agree - key is product and passion....longetivity as well. it always helps to have a pre established network.  if one can hit the right cords then the music will definitely sound sweet to the ears

I just received this from someone in my organization.  I don`t know if I should pass it on like this or not, but I`m going to (with names removed) because it really reflects how this business works.  Here it is:

Be  sure  and  log  into  your  Z Center  ,   and  see  the  News and  Events  section  !!

M___  and  T___  are  consistantly  appearing  in  markets  around  the  country  .

It`s amazing  what  ONE  phone call can do  !!

J___ ,  in Atlanta ,  called one guy he knew in Indianapolis ,  R___ .

R___ has  300 people with him  at a meeting in Indy last week .

J___`s life will never be the same  !!

This week ,   who do you know in  Arizona  ?

who do you know in Michigan  ?

who do you know in Southern California  ?

That`s a pretty powerful e-mail, don`t you think? J___ will now earn a little off the efforts of all the people R__ brings into his business either as reps OR as customers. Where else can you do something like this for a few hundred dollars?

Lots of ways Doug.  All you need is a product that is in demand, and be able to provide it at or below prevailing market prices in your area.

I started my home-based business 24 years ago with a $50 start-up kit.  Now, I can show people how to start theirs with no start-up kit, or a refundable $85 deposit for a 50-lb. start-up kit of samples, catalogs, and hundreds of samples.  Great possibilities for excellent income in a $19 Billion US market.

The company I sell for is one of thousands in my industry, but operates with a unique opportunity plan, focused on creating an organizations with thousands of Independent Agents, each enjoying their own success.

And the truth is that there are hundreds of different opportunities where people can earn good to excellent income from home, doing something they find interesting.  I don`t believe that you have to necessarily be passionate about a business to be successful - Consider the millions of successful employees who hold down jobs that they can`t even stand, hoping to make it retirement before having the rug pulled out from under them.

It helps if you are interested in your business, but I`ve helped individuals become successful in my field, who had never heard of this industry before they visited my website.  Often time, people only need to be profitable in a business for it to hold their interest, and overtime it may actually become fun and exciting.
