Well, I finally had to start muting the sound on the SuN site. The banners I can take. The ads aren`t so bad. I get the idea that it`s about making money. But now with "SiteBuilder" interrupting my train of thought every so often, I guess it`s starting to be annoying. Or maybe I`ll just crank up the Internet radio volume instead?

Oops..."SitePal." I guess I`ve been successful in making sure I never use this site or their product, ever in the future. So successful, I totally blocked the name from my mind.

C`mon guys.... :-) Hasn`t the marketing department read that among the top-most annoying turnoffs a Web site can have is sound that can`t be turned off?

Craig I agree, sound on banners should be muted by default, maybe a few quite sound effects I could deal with but not some girl talking out loud. Although I have to say it`s the first banner in a LONG time I actally typed a phrase into and made her say it........

I think the strange part is that at first I didn`t know what was talking because I totally didn`t expect a banner to do that.

BTW - you can press the speaker button on the top right of the ad if that helps any.

Ohhh, finally see the banner you`re referring to...I only get sound if I roll my mouse over the banner, other than that she is silent on my machine.

Also it seems to have a cookie or something because it does remember if I stopped the sound.

I saw the speaker, but since there isn`t any hover-help, and right below is the "Learn More," I was afraid that if I clicked, I`d be treated to an interminable lecture on how badly I need this stupid-tricks-for-incompetent-content-writers.

Hmm....wait, maybe this is a sort of Machiavellian scheme to make SuN users limit their time on the site? That way it gives others a chance to have some time to read the articles? It`s a way to make things more fair, and not have some folks hog all the server time by spending hours reading and commenting? :-) After half an hour, people leave the site screaming and foaming at the mouth?

Ms. SitePal USA talks every time I open a new tab/window while browsing the forums.  Once I could deal with but she makes browsing several pages quite annoying.

I thought of posting something but then I figured there must already be a thread of complaints.  Sure enough.

(Note to self:  When creating web businesses, do not have talking ads.)

You know, she`s cute enough, but the incessant talking! So much for the perfect cyber-woman...

You know, I never really got the idea to play with the thing until Todd mentioned it.

And wouldn`t you know it? That lady has a DARN DIRTY MOUTH!
(Clean it up with Orbit gum!)

Now it makes me wonder if SitePal is collecting the data on what people are typing in for this thing.

But yes, Craig, I normally have my sound off ... but I had it on once ... really freaked me out.

And yes Steve, please don`t join the others using this thing. It reminds me of blinking text way back when. I`m hoping it`s a fad that runs its course soon.

Jeff - I`m sure it`s some nerd`s biggest dream to be able to tell her what to say, though.

You talk. We listen.

And now the Site Pal ads don`t talk. At least not until you actually click on them. You no longer have to worry about your mouse dragging over the ad. It will remain silent until you click on it.

Thanks for the terrific feedback. We love our StartupNation community!
