MeLissa - not to derail the subject at hand, but I am curious... how did you find out you had all of those allergies? I still have mysterious stomach issues sometimes and I have to wonder if there`s something else I could eliminate from my diet, to fix it.

Hi Christine,

I actually took a blood test that my naturopath recommended to me.  You can check it out here, but as a quick synopsis, it checks the serum in your blood against the serum of about 300 foods...totally worth it in my opinion.

That`s really neat MeLissa - thanks for the info! Do you feel better now that you have eliminated those foods from your diet? Did you  have a lot of digestive problems before taking the test and changing your diet?

Yes is the answer to both of your questions.  :)  I also had asthma and I hardly ever have an attack anymore...unless I eat something I`m not supposed to.  I was trying to reintroduce carrots at one point and it was not a fun time!

Glad to be of service...hope you feel better soon, too!  :)

Thanks very much! I might just have to check that out. It could be the answer to my dilemma, for sure :-)

How `bout a show in the future about "foods that soothe" for people with food allergies? When I started to talk about stomach issues, I realized that so many people deal with it!! So this is a BIG issue for a lot of people out there. I am usually okay with most foods, in MODERATION, however, a friend of mine is going through a very serious situation now and all he can eat at the moment is eggs, chicken, tuna with super healthy mayo, and a short list of veggies and an even short list of fruits. I think this is part of an `elimination` diet. Anywho, it`s a topic that I`d definitely be interested in!

I agree, Laura. I know several people who are also dealing with some sort of food/digestive issue. I think it would be of great interest. :-)

I have celiac disease (can`t eat gluten - wheat and other grains) and so do my little boys. They also cannot have dairy and are sensitive to some other foods. Their traditional allergy tests came back totally fine, but they certainly cannot eat certain things.

My naturopath uses testing from this lab: http://www.gdx.net/home/assessments/allergy/faq/

I have yet to get us all tested officially, but plan to as soon as we have the money. Celiac is very common and gluten intolerance strikes 1 out of 7 Americans! Good luck!

Hey Dippy Chick:

I`ve visited your website a few times and I`m gettin` hungry!! I especially like the Atomic Wedgie Veggie that looks VERY yummy!! Do you sell to the public or is it just wholesale??

Thanks!

laura

p.s. Does it taste as good if you use tofu-type sour cream or low-fat sour cream?? I have to AVOID mayo and sour cream since I`m trying to get over my couch potato phase! (I have two clients who are personal trainers and they had me out jogging last night, so I need to get serious about eating better so that I don`t have to be the jelly belly out there running around!!)
