Hey, Ever since I have been younger I have always wanted to own my own business and live the good life. I just need some ideas. I take all the business classes in my high school and I do excellent in school. So far the hardest thing that I see about starting a business is trying to find the ideas and then trying to find a first step to achieve the goal that you are looking for. I really just need someone that can help me.

Thanks.

The best piece of advice I can give you is this:

Don`t look for the job where "the big bucks" are... look to do what you love.  If you aren`t passionate about what you are doing, you`ll never really have success or "the good life".

What`s interesting is the combination of "...own my own business and live the good life." One option to accomplish this would be to start a life of crime. There, you`re self-employed (if you`re a master criminal), and you get plenty of tax-free money to live the good life.

Another option is to find oil somewhere in your backyard, discover an emerald mine, and win the lottery.

I`m surprised (a little) at the number of people who believe that somehow owning their own business is a ticket to millions, yachts, luxury homes, and leisure. I`m *sure* this is due to the many sales ads that have some numbskull on a beach somewhere, telling everyone that for a mere $$ investment, they too can live on a beach.

In many ways, it reminds me of people who say they just want to be married. They assume a) they`ll be happily married, and b) that someone wants to marry them for no reason at all other than their existence. Life isn`t about what you take from it; more often it`s about what you put into it in the form of work and passion.

Yes, some people---the exceptions---come up with an idea so unusual that it sparks a gigantic business enterprise. It`s harder these days, in some ways, only because a lot of ideas involve technology, which requires a lot of money up front. Even so, there are people who invent something reasonably simple and turn it into a huge moneymaker. They`re the exceptions, not the rule.

A better way to think about this is that you want to live a good life. Then come up with a description of what, exactly, IS a "good life?"

As Jim Rohn says: for your business to grow - you have to grow. You want to succeed? then focus right now on getting into the right mindset. Without that you wont have much. A person can have the best business idea, tactics and strategies - but if they dont have the right mindset they wont get to far.

oh....as i say to my children. follow your heart. follow your passion. since the money will follow from there.

the energy and excitement of really following your real passion, will result in no mistakes about getting up in the morning, since you will have passion and excitement to just go for it. the highs and lows will not be so dire, since the passion of following your desire and dreams will way out weigh the so called aahhh`s of running your own biz.

a suggestion might be-find and jot down whatever comes to mind, regardless if it feels so far out there. jot it down, then afterwards decide from that list what you want to do. then follow it. the rest could and may just unfold so effortlessly for you with regards to making it work.

do not worry what others could think. do not worry about anyone, including yourself with a choice to do your biz. just pick it after composing your long list. then go with your heart and follow it.

in the long run, you`ll be a much richer happier person as you walk the path of freedom, called being your own boss.

Josh.

It is tempting for you to begin your search by evaluating this array of opportunities in a somewhat random fashion, rejecting many because they don’t “feel right” and accepting some as true possibilities because they look workable.

The fundamental flaw is that this approach fails to account for the most critical aspects of the decision - the ones that make the experience of success possible - and replaces them with the (poor) judgment of your subconscious emotions -something which is just slightly less reliable than the worst odds in a Las Vegas casino.

The reason the popular ‘random’ trial and error approach to finding the right business fails so miserably is that it fails to distinguish relevant options from irrelevant ones.

By ‘relevant’ I mean options that have a direct association or bearing on providing you a business that will deliver the rewarding and successful life you truly want.

These days, popular entrepreneurial mantras often extol the virtues of thinking outside the box .

You regularly hear expressions like:

            “Consider all options.”

“Break the boundaries that prevent you from innovating.”

“There are no wrong answers”

“Think outside the box”

“Reach outside your comfort zone”

But, in terms of addressing complex challenges like finding your perfect business, not all boundaries should be broken.  In fact,  in complex circumstances unstructured thinking such as brainstorming is actually the least effective approach.

I have created a process which escorts you through an inner exploration to help you overcome the subconscious limiting beliefs and self-doubts that sabotage your efforts today and help you find a business that is the perfect match for you.

It is available to you free at www.theperfectbizfinder.com/blog

Let me suggest you begin with the article entitled “Generating Relevant Option”.

I also welcome the opportunity to help you one on one if you like.

With 38 years of business building success behind me I am 100% committed to helping people like you find and create your perfect business.

Sincerely and gratefully,

I was in a meeting once where some executive told us to "think outside the box." I raised my hand and said I had a tesseract in mind.

I got fired.

Josh;

I have to agree with Steve.  There are two very important distinctions to make.  The first is in realizing that the only way to live "the good life" is to live the life you were "meamt" to live.  That means, simply doing wjat you love.  If in fact you choose what makes a lot of money, there is no more guarantee of happiness than if you choose the one that`s closest to your home.

Finding the right business for you is more a matter of overcoming the fears and doubts you have about making a living out of doing what you already know you want to do, but think you can`t.
