I have been eye balling two completely different start-up ideas, both involve transportation and logistics in California. Does anyone here have experience in dealing with a start-up in transportation in CA?

Transportation is a need of the days in almost any situation. Transportation is very important for individuals groups and for moving the items from place to place and to Start a transport business can seem like a intimidating task but once you have all of the pieces in place it can be very remunerative. One of my ideas, I have gone so far as to create an 18 page Business Plan and and 40 page operating procedure manual. The business involves transporting people for hire (On a sightly secretive scale). My B-Plan has been submitted to a score couselor, who stated it was one of the most original and well though out B-Plan's he'd ever seen. (Which was cool, because it was my first attempt at a B-Plan)

My second idea involves short haul transportation for materials only. This one I'm just toying with the idea, I have not put pen to paper yet.

Both involve registering with the DOT, PUC, ect . .  and that is where any advice would be appreciated.

I don't know the worth of transportation business in CA but you can grow in this business. The business have potential to grow if you follow its principles. Their are some main principle which need to you concentration like Moving load, Delivery speed, service quality , operation cost the usage of facilities and energy saving.

Transportation business has become a business on demand. People move toward to it to gain more and more profit in less time. In this business owner have to invest once and can enjoy its profit for lifetime but for all this he need to be a smart investor.
