Hello guys,

Our company recently launched a new project to help fellow outdoor enthusiasts find deals on camping and hiking gear: TrailLove.  So far, we've implemented features to allow for deal search, recommendations of new products per day, and an aggregated page for coupons.

We were involved in much of the layout design of the site, though the actual color scheme, etc. were the work of a much more graphically inclined person.

The goal of the site is to allow visitors find good deals on the products that they want now, then allow easy navigation to the retailer where that item can be purchased.

What I would love to hear from anyone who cares to review is:

  • Was the site clear and easy to navigate?  When you were browsing, did the links/flow produce unexpected results?
  • Were the search pages easy to use?  The search is designed to be easy to sort and filter; does it meet that goal?
  • Do the graphics and text flow well together, or does anyone feel that parts of it are a bit of an eyesore?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, though obviously replies that focus on the issues above would be especially helpful.

Once again, the link is: TrailLove

-The header links for each product should use the open window in new tab logic just like the "Go To Store" links.

-Too much white space on the homepage

-a link like this just shows a blank page:

http://www.traillove.com/category/merchant/wilderness-exchange-unlimited

-The coupon section could use pictures for each product.

-When I went to this coupon - Black Diamond Climbing Harness Blowout!:

It was not a coupon but merely discounted items just like on the main part of the site

-The coupon links extend across the entire page and even fall off.  I would shorten them.

Looks like a cool idea though.  Might also list the 40 retailers you work with as a handy reference.

Wow, awesome feedback.  I'll work with our graphic designer to get some of those changes fixed.  The blank page is especially concerning to me - I thought that we had that fixed so it redirects if nothing's available, but I guess not...

You're spot on with having too much white space on the homepage by the way.  We're actually in the middle of rolling out the functionality for a weekly newsletter subscription service, and that form will take up that big chunk of space.  For now, the site is just kind of up and running with that as a placeholder.
