hey Phil,

You are making a smart choice! Though one might think from my signature that I should recommend you exhibit at a trade show right away and buy a trade show display (guess where?) while you're at it, the SMART thing to do is to attend a trade show first and walk around and talk to people and see what works. Trade show exhibiting can be successful, but it is also a quick way to burn through a big part of your marketing budget (i.e. it's expensive). I tell people you should always know how much it is going to cost first, and have a plan that you are going to make money by exhibiting, not lose money. :)

Anyway, good luck and let us know what you think of the show that you attend in April, and how that prototype is coming...

I totally agree with what Christina has to say. The best way to gain some much needed information about the type of trade show you should be exhibiting your product is to visit a whole lot of shows in your area. Taking with the people who operate the booth is another great tip to get some inside info.

Thanks for the tips everyone.  I had a question in another discussion group about industrial designers.  Since it seems like there is more involvement in this forum, I was wondering if you had any insights.

I'm finally making a move and getting started with an industrial designer.  I did pretty much all I could on my own, and I am going to give it to someone who knows what he's doing.  He only charges $20/hour which I have heard is fantastic.  He came via a referral from a lady I know from my inventor networking meetings.  We signed a non-disclosure agreement.

What advice can anyone give me on working with an inustrial designer?  Things I need to look out for?  Things I can expect to happen?  Important things to clarify from the get-go?, etc.

Happy New Year,

Hey,

Even I agree with you guys..Trade show and exhibition is truly an great way to market the product and making it alive in local market. But making trade show or exhibit a success depends on the arrangements done for the show. You gotta make nice and attractive arrangements to hold the crowd. First Trade Show is best in this business. They provide beautiful and attractive materials for trade shows and exhibits. I've used table top displays, accessories, booths and more from them. customer service is also very satisfactory, making your show a success. I do recommend First Trade Show to everyone..

Even though the economy is in a rough spot, and most companies can't justify exhibiting at trade shows, it's still worth the time and money. When others are backing out of events, is precisely the time to make your brand visible, if you can afford it.
