I am wanting to introduce my company to specific industries and need to prepare for a trade show.  If anyone has any advice, other than offer pens, brochures, and food to get people stop please let me know.

I am working on building a display for the trade show.  If anyone knows are is a good graphic designer and can do the car wrap type graphic products please contact me.

Lastly, if anyone has opinion on the effectiveness of trade show marketing please add your 2 cents.

Aaron,

Would like to ask you some questions.

Based on your post, it appears you are not planning on attending a trade show related to your industry - rather you want to attend shows to expose your company and services to potential clients.

What made you decide this was a good use of your marketing dollars? I don`t know what your budget is for this show or shows, but I do know how much it costs to exhibit in most national shows - and it isn`t inexpensive. I ask the question to get a better understanding of your objectives for attending and results expected afterwards. There may be better ways and methods to utilize your marketing dollars. Trade shows are not the answer for every type of business - IMHO.

PS - forgot something. I can recommend a company in ATL that can help you with the large format graphics - good friend, good company, great service:

The reason I am interested in going to trade shows is because it would allows us to market our product in person to the people we are targeting.

What first sparked this idea was I received a request for a Russian Interpreter for assist an Insurance Claims Invesitgator perform an interview.   The Investigator happens to be the secretary of the State Assoc. of Claims Investigators and said she could get me an invitation to be a vendor at the conference.  There will only be a few hundred people there and the cost is $400.   I thought this would be a good way for me to get some experience as it is a small trade conference and relatively inexpensive.

My budget would be around $700.  Most of the things I would buy with this money would be reusable.  Logos, Shirts, Display, etc..

I also plan on creating a postcard type mailer to mail out to the companies that work in the industries we are targeting. Medical, Construction, Legal, and other Professional services.

Thank you for any insight you may give me. I am currently weighing the pros and cons and some additional information may be very helpful.

PS. there is a second option and that is to be a sponsor of the conference for about $150 dollards, but that would not give me as much exposure or contact.

Aaron - thanks for the clarification. For this size show and the price, I would do it. Excellent opportunity to meet some great contacts in a very specific niche market. With such a small attendee total, you will have some great opportunities to meet and talk to decision makers. Influence the influencers.

I don`t see you needing a lot of materials for this show compared to a larger, more well-attended show in numbers. Put your info packet together and get ready to do a lot of communicating. Practice, practice, practice. Don`t talk, communicate. Connect with your audience. Prepare for this audience.

Be able to paint a picture of client success stories. Tell these prospective clients why other people write you a check. Past stories of success are great for getting the attention of new clients. Paint a VIVID picture of these successes in the minds of these potential clients. What do you do for your customers?

People don`t buy products or services. They buy solutions.

With the intimacy of this small show, use this closeness to tell your story.

Hope this helps.
