Through reading many business books, I have gotten great business advice on a lot of different aspects of starting my business. But after reading so much, I realized that it was all a jumble in my head. Of what use would all that great advice be if I couldn`t keep it straight? Has that happened to you?

So I chose four of the books that seemed to be the most helpful, and took notes from each one based on what I thought would be of the most practical use to me.  It wasn`t until I reviewed all of these notes that I realized that between the four books, there were invaluable suggestions for every phase of starting a business. If I could put them together, I`d have myself a blueprint - a to-do list for starting my company - covering every aspect from prototyping to ongoing PR efforts.

So that`s what I did; I compiled all the relevant notes from each book into a format that I could really use. Some of these books are new and some have been around for a while, but they`re all terrific. There are loads of additional business books for me to read and heed, but these four, put together, provided an excellent basis for my
To-Do List for Starting a Company.pdf.

I have posted the To-Do List and a short review of each book on my blog Light, Motion and Magic

I`m curious as to whether you have found these same books helpful.
I`d also like to know if this list will be helpful to anyone else, and also if there are glaring omissions or errors in this plan. Please let me know what you think.

Great list! Nice to see a bunch of good ideas from reputable sources in one place. Looks like the beginnings of some more `How-to` lists at SUN. Now, in exactly what order was I supposed to do all these things...

Thanks for sharing!

Well an issue is that you read so many books.
The only book you needed to read is "Open for Business" from the Sloan Brothers.
Broken down into 10 easy steps in an order that is easy to follow.

Maybe you`re right!

I`ll certainly read Open for Business too.
