I'm considering about tracking my time to see where most of it is spent.

Are any of you tracking your time and what are the applications are you using?

Feel free to list the pros and cons too!

Hi Wayne,

I have gone down this route in the past, and I ended up spending more time tracking my time than it was worth.

Rather than a reactive approach like tracking your time and then making adjustments, I have found it's better to set out a schedule that you want to meet and then execute on that.

Hope that helps!

I have recently tried Time Doctor Software, which recorded the time I spent on specific projects. I was working remotely so it was easier for me to bill my clients based on the total time I worked on tasks that needs to be done. The software automatically records screenshots, so it wasn't too difficult to review work in the past.

A weekly time usage report is being sent for you to view webpages and applications you have used. It was something that helped me get work done, to be honest. Not sure about the cons though, but I'll let you know once I experience one. Oh, and they actually have a free trial version in case you wanted to try it too. :)

A thorough evaluation of where your time is spent is a somewhat time consuming, but worthy, endeavor. I've personally witnessed huge strides in productivity, communication, and morale among my team since we starting using time tracking software (TSheets.com).

I think this is simply great. I was amazed at the results and at how much time I actually wasted. There are only pro s to such applications.

Hi Wayne,

I just came across your posting and wanted to share some ideas as well. There are a few quite good apps and web-tools out there for you to use and track your time. My favorite is Toggl, because it works on every device and is very well designed; there others like Harvest, Ballpark and Freshbooks which include a time tracking feature and combine it with billing and invoicing capabilities. You can check them out on www.mevvy.com/tools > productivity > time tracking you can also read an interesting article on the same site about how to organize your work routine. Hope this helps!!!

Mostly when you want to keep track of time then only you miss something which was more important than just noticing your efficiency. In place of this setting the targets for the day is much better which makes us determined to finish the task before or in the given time and this is the true test of efficiency if someone wants to make a check.

Hi,

I am currently using mTimeCard: http://mtimecard.com/

It is a mobile app for time tracking and attendance monitoring.

It has a 7 day free trial period.

Its main advantage is its simplicity- very easy to use. It's also not very expensive.

And most importantly-it can used be used from a mobile phone (besides from web)!
