I am looking at adding some new lines (shaving products) for
men on my website. I currently carry a couple of brushes and
razors, but am looking into the e shave products
www.eshave.com. However they are a bit pricey..So here is my
question how do you shave? Electric razor, or soap and razor.
and this is for all the women out there too when it comes to legs
etc.
I believe that a razor and/or shave cream gives a better, closer
shave, better for your skin. Plus that`s what my hubby and 2 of
my teenage boys use.

Look forward to hearing from you all on this subject.
Cheers
Sarah

I use an electric razor just because it is fast and portable. I sometimes keep an extra in my car just in case! You are right though, blades do give you a closer shave. I always use a blade before a night out on the town!

I`m electric too. I used a Panasonic wet-dry that was fantastic, then they vanished from the market. My price point is about $40, although I see Panasonic has a version of the old one, upwards of $125. So I switched to a Norelco. I don`t need a whole lot of functions, and definitely don`t like the ones that ooze or drool some sort of lotion. Just plain is fine.

The big problem for shaving retailers, I think, is that all razors are pretty much the same. So it comes down to either a real difference, or marketing hype. The Panasonic was a "back-and-forth" kind of shave, where the Norelco is a rotating cutter action.

So for your site, I`m guessing it`s going to be a commodity item. In that case, you`d likely do best by selecting your product on both the price point, and the original vendor`s marketing and promotion campaigns. At least, that`s how I see it... :-)

I use a razor and shaving cream.  I don’t ever worry about charging my shaver or the noise an electric shaver makes.  If I run out of shaving cream soap will do in a pinch.  The blades are of such high quality these days I can go weeks without replacing it. They are portable and great for travelling.

ujeans... I agree. Today`s blade technology is not my fathers blade technology.

For several years I was an electric shaver user. Eventually, I went back to the blade due to the "shaves closer" comments found above in this post. I have been using a Gillette Sensor for years now (two blade action). It works great and I don`t see the need to upgrade to a 5 blade shaver.

Oh, generally I use shaving gel or plain old soap to lubricate the blade.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Much appreciated.
I am currently looking into 2 different companies "The art of
shaving" and "e shave".
I do believe there is a certain art to shaving and grooming. Plus
with Valentines day around the corner wouldn`t it be nice to
receive a new shaving set, something that someone has put
some thought into and some nice smelling shaving products to
go along with it. Guys you all have to look after your skin too. It`s
not just us women. Your face is out there everyday enduring
the weather, humidity etc.
OK I`ll get off my soapbox now.
Thanks
Sarah

Well I use a razor only because an electric causes my skin to break out, however, with that I gotta change brands about every quarter, for some odd reason changing brands does something different with my skin. Now some of you might find this funny, but I cant stand using a mens razor either, I actually use womens, again not sure why, but there better on my skin. As for the cream, I use the sport gel, a nice THIN coat. Oh and I never really needed more than 3 blades! The only razor I really liked was the 5 blade one that had the single blade on the other side for shaving under the nose, that was actually a great idea.

Here`s a little gimic for you and I`m not sure how many men do this but I use a credit card to rough up my hair before shaving. Yep, I drag it across/against my face to help the hair stand up, it really works! You could sell a piece of plastic that does the same thing :)

Todd,
I`m going to be carrying a pre shave oil which does the same
thing as your credit card and is actually better for your
skin...and card too come to think of it!! The women`s razors do
have a better coating on them..not sure why.
Thanks for the input
Cheers

You can get a thousand answers and still end up with a mixture of electric
and traditional razor blade. If you want to get into men`s shaving
equipment, then you ought to carry supplies for both methods. That`s a
no brainer.

You shouldn`t be asking how us men shave, rather what products or kinds
of products we like and which ones are the most successful. As you can
see, you are getting some of those answers already.

I myself keep a short stubbly beard so I use an electric trimmer to keep it
at the length I desire.

Steve,
I don`t want to get into carrying electronics. My website is more
geared towards gifts that you can`t just walk into your local store
to buy. In order to determine which products and skin care
products to carry I wanted to find out how many people (men or
women) used razors versus electric razors. I currently carry a
mens skin care and shaving line and was looking to expand
that with some other options that people had heard about
through T.V placement and endorsements on shows.
Thanks for the input
