WOW!  I`m finally getting the acknowledgement that my sons "don`t have time, Mom" to give me.

Say it isn`t so! Surely Jeff and Rich never said that to Mom!

steve,

it`s a fine balance... if you`re not careful, a nice, relaxing family dinner could turn into a newsbriefing. mom AND dad are big advocates of ziploc bags, using them not for food, but to hermetically seal all article clippings for presentation at unsuspecting times... most of the clippings therefore end up splattered with zip sauce from my steak, or a piece of starchy rice stuck to them from the thai place...

in any event, sometimes you just have to say it to set up clippings boundaries... "don`t have time, mom."

I admire the fact that Rich didn`t immediately blame this on Jeff.

As a younger brother, myself, I realize the trauma inflicted by the older brothers (often in the form of vicious games like "bloody knuckles") limits one`s tattling capacity.

This is by far the greatest! Sometimes...for us new people...it is hard to see past all the starlites we invision dancing around the "owners" heads. It is so cool to really get to know you as people...to have you acknowledge us on the same level. I feel so honored to be in the presence of such greatness...and be treated like an equal! Thanks Mom...and Rich and Jeff! This is by far the best thread I have gotten a chance to read. It really makes me feel so much less like the little guy in a very tough game!

PS: My mom clips me articles and sends them to me all the time too. She has been doing that since I was in junior high school...she use to tape them to my bedroom door or leave them on my plate at dinner so I wouldn`t miss them. Now I get the random one stuck in care packages...or just an envelope with some interesting article...no note...just the cliping. I love getting these from my mom...even the ones that tell me that I need to stop my bad habits! HAHAHA!!! Clip on Mama...Clip on!!!

leah,

why not just sign up your mom in our community? (man, am i predictable, or what?!)

as for treating people like equals...that applies in all cases except as it relates to jeff and me, where, obviously, i am completely superior.

HAHAHA...you aren`t going to believe it...she actually did sign up...just as I was writing the previous note...AND...we are on the phone right now and she was just mentioning a magazine that she stole from the auto repair shop she was just at that she was going to send me because of an article!!! Never-ending! HAHAHAA!!! Gotta love our moms...when we are younger they don`t know anything...as I got older...I started apologizing for my younger years!!!

Thanks again!!

I am so jealous. My mother and I don`t see eye to eye and she isn`t a part of my life even though she lives 2 miles away. I wish I had a supportive family. My aunts, uncles and cousins are supportive, but my mom and sister and I are not speaking. Things went downhill when my dad passed away last year. I guess you could say he was the glue that held us together. Once he was gone we all just fell apart. It`s so weird.

Anyway, I hope you all appreciate it if you have supportive parents. You are really, really lucky in my eyes!
