I elected a change from Bush, not Bush 2.0. Not only are prisoners continuing to be detained indefinitely, but even those who are acquitted can be held indefinitely to prevent them from possibly committing crimes in the future. This is absurd. If holding people for half a decade without a trial, only to proceed to kangaroo court show trials which prohibit the use of evidence by the defense for "security reasons", we can now keep people in prison even if they manage to beat the odds and get acquitted. Why? Because if they didn`t hate the US before, they have good reason to now. I imagine the administration fears all the innocent prisoners actually becoming combatants. Comments? I`m let down. I voted for Obama because he`d represent justice. Aside from abandoning torture (definitely a big plus), our human rights are continuing to decline towards Orwellian dystopian standards. I don`t think this is good. What if it was you that was arrested, found innocent, and then tossed in a prison to rot anyway? Why have trials if the only conclusion to said trial is prison: guilty, innocent, it`s prison for everyone.
