Former congresswoman and vice-presidential candidate, Geraldine Ferraro who backs Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton created a racial firestorm when she stated that Senator Barack Obama wouldn`t be where he`s at today if he were a white man.

Being a black man, I have my own personal views on her statement, but I`d like to hear from some of you. Don`t be afaid to speak out. There`s nothing wrong with starting a dialogue about a sensitive issue such as race. All I ask is that we keep it civil and respect each other`s feelings.

Anyway, here are my questions:

1. Do you agree or disagree with Geraldine Ferraro? Yes or no.

2. Do you think the Clinton campaign is playing the "race card?" Yes or no.

Certainly many people will vote for a candidate that represents a change of the status quo (Rich-old-white-man) regardless of their political veiws. I think people want to feel they are a part of something new, edgy, hip, different, a revolution! How else did we get Gov. Schwarzenegger and Gov. Ventura? I can not be convinced they were elected based solely on their political views. Who they are and what they represent matters. imho

That being said, I think Geraldine could have presented her position in a way that wouldn`t have sounded as racist as it did.

That being said, I think Geraldine could have presented her position in a way that wouldn`t have sounded as racist as it did.

That`s a very interesting observation. One that I`m inclined to agree with.

I couldn`t care less what color he is, what does he stand for? And...I can`t believe that they would be dumb enough to actually even encourage her saying that. Unless, it was a way to make Hillary look good. You know..."Hey, Geraldine, you have nothing to lose, say something stupid that I can refute...big points for me."

Do I agree with Ferraro? Nah, I think it has less to do with his race than it does with his backing by Oprah. lol Seriously, though, maybe I`m naive, but I don`t believe that is the case.

I do believe that Geraldine Ferraro`s remarks are true to how she feels. I don`t think she was prepared for the response - she merely spoke out on the way she and many others feel.
Unfortunately, Senator Obama who happens to be an attorney like both Senator Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro also shares the same experience with having held positions in the government. Why on earth would she not think that he is in the position because he is reaching out to people who may just happen to like what he has to say - regardless to how others may view on where he stands. I think those who question where he stands are those who are not listening and have no intentions on hearing him - and that`s fine. He has spoken out on the issues and frankly, no one will know how it will work until they get in office - whichever candidate wins.
Let`s not forget that this process is not just up to the President, he/she will have advisers, senate, congress, etc. to go through before things can be done. Keep in mind everyone is saying what they want us to hear. Let`s just hope for the best for this country!

Shortly before the primary in Ohio a local news channel interviewed a group of college students who stated they were voting for Obama. As the interview went on and as they admited they knew nothing about where he stood on the issues, they were voting for him simply because of race.

Unfortuately to many vote the same way - because someone is black or woman or a actor or looks good or speaks well or has held the office for ever or is old or young, fat or thin, etc. I think its one of the primary reasons we are we are today in the USA. I remember last presidental election, from all over the country people were stepping into the voting booth stating they weren`t sure who they would vote for - how could you get to the booth and not understand the candidates and their positions well enough to know who you were going to vote for. Kind of wish those people would just stay home.
