Can we swear on here? Pretty new to the boards, I know we can say Damn (learned that from CraigL) but how about the big A word?

Anyway, does anyone else still chained to a desk during the day have one of these great co-workers? In a matter of less than 5 minutes, on a phone call today with them, I was personally insulted twice. Talk about pissed off! Who do these people think they are? Were they taught this or actually born this way?

Spider Robinson, a well-known sci-fi writer, has his "a-hole" theory. He proposes that everyone, without exception, is basically an a-hole. It`s only a matter of how sophisticated each person is, relative to their being discovered. :-D

In one of his books, when questionned, a main character even sites Jesus. As a great teacher, he engineered a world event and didn`t even invite the media. Why? Because he was an a-hole. Alright, that might be a stretch...but it`s an argument in favor of the validity of the theory.

So maybe a good question would be whether or not the chameleon-like capability of someone to "appear" to be a normal person is genetic or trained?

Well, I`m here to tell you, today was about the icing on the cake. Usually, I can come home, forget about it and move on, tonight, it is just festering. What I wouldn`t give for a voodoo doll. Does anyone on here make these? I would rip off its legs, shove them up the a-hole and make the doll walk!

I think I should get a good strong drink or just go to bed. . .LOL

This is why I never, ever, ever want to work in an office again!

I worked for SO MANY OF THESE. Now if I have a client like that, I can just finish the project or discontinue the contract and move on!

Unfortunately, I still have one foot in the door and may for awhile it seems. Oh well, I shouldn`t waste any good home time thinking about this, I`ll get over it.

All I can say is Karma, it will come back to them and they will get theirs, it always does. I always look at those people and laugh because there life must be so horrible they take it out on others.

One thing I`ve found too is that these types of people can have a serious impact on business. They can force issues that are wrong and can cost the money loads of cash due to their attitudes and personal beliefs. Sad really......

Todd, you are so right! The sad thing is that this person really is pretty good at what they do, and without the egotistical attitude, could be GREAT at things, they just offend to many people, it is amazing. We have clients that do not like to deal with them and the company has gone from being an absolutely great place to work to having about 95% of the staff having a hard time dealing with this person. It is really damaging moral and motivation. It really is to bad. It is quite a mess. But, it sure felt good to actually put it in writing last night and vent. Sorry about that, but I sure was able to settle down and relax, it felt like a weight was lifted just to put it out in the open and I`m sure I am not the only one having to try to deal with something like this while remaining professional and keeping a smile on my face

One thing to keep in mind is that YOU have a choice. It may not seem all the solid right this moment, but you`ve got a wildcard. As you continue to build your own business, ANYthing could happen, and you could become very big as your own boss, in your own business. What`s this guy gonna do when the corporation gets bought out, or the jobs get outsourced? Nothing.

The old saying goes, "the best revenge is living well." :-D

yes, there are several where I work. The best thing I do is shrug my shoulders and keep going. I stopped caring about my job long ago. I still show up and do just enough just not to get fired. (Ala office space) I simply just stopped caring. I wouldn`t say I don`t care. I just show up do my job, maybe daydream about the business, and go home and work on this. So let it ride, and get out of there as fast as you can. Hey he`s your motivation at least.

Y`know, an interesting problem with not caring (apathy) is that you can`t limit it to a nice little section of your life, and not have it affect anything else.

If you choose to become apathetic to your job, which is such an important part of life in general, you`ll soon discover you`re apathetic to pretty much everything. Even the things you used to care about a lot won`t seem all that interesting.

Apathy is like slowly starving to death, and pretending that the only time it`s a problem is during meals. :-)
