It`s hardly a secret that Atlanta Falcons quarterback, Michael Vick was recently indicted for allegedly operating a dogfighting operation and transporting dogs across state lines.

My own personal views are even though Michael Vick is entitled to and will receive due process, I think he`s guilty as sin.

After all, the people involved were his associates and friends. It was his property where the dead dog carcasses were found, and witnesses reportedly saw Vick placing huge bets at several dogfighting events.

I say that`s entirely too much smoke for there not to be a fire.

Also, speaking as a black man, despite the media spin, I personally don`t consider this a racial issue. I consider it an egregious cruelty to animals issue. That`s why so many people are upset. It has absolutely nothing to do with the color of Michael Vick`s skin.

Anyway, that`s what I think.

What do you think?

I think it was awesome for Nike, Reebok, and the NFL to take action (and bow to pressure) against Vick, for the time being. It was a good business move on all of their parts because you really don`t want PETA and the ASPCA on your case ... bad for business! Nike and Reebok are going to eat some huge losses though.

I also think that animal cruelty sentencing is really light in this country, because most states see dogs as property, so that the penalty might be light for the crime. OR the judge may want to "make an example of him" and give him the max ... and then he might end up in other states serving the max because he crossed state lines with this.

I also think that his friend already rolled on him, because while Vick pleaded not guilty, one of his associates already took a deal.

I also think (beyond my personal opinions about someone who would do this kind of thing) that it was one of the worst career moves in history. He could have chosen the hall of fame, his contract, and his endorsements ... and he chose to do this instead. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

It breaks my heart in many places.  As a dog lover I will never understand this kind of cruelty.  As a people lover it pains me to see the media saying, "Hey look! People who support his due process are black, and people who object to his treatment of animals are white."  How unfair.  I believe the majority of people, black or white, would object to animal cruely, as I believe the majority of people, black or white, would support due process.

My gut says he`s guilty.

Thank goodness for due process though.  It`ll be interesting to see what gets revealed...

I am so happy that Vic is losing everything, he has ever worked for and I hope he never gets another dime, kids all over the world dream of being a nfl player, and this idiot was blessed enough to make it $140 million dollars dam! the same shoe he couldnt afford as a child his name was being put on this shoe, dam! and he was just as stupid enough to lose it! for what $150,000 dam! how stupid! I am a animal lover and especially dogs, and I think it was ignorant and stupid and ghetto to do something so cruel to those poor little animals and I pray to God that he is used as a example for other idiots like him that is blessed enough to make it rich! this idiot threw his whole career away for herpies and ghetto activities, dam they say you can take them out the ghetto but you cant take the ghetto out of them!  I love how the nfl is handling this idiot maybe now these ghetto idiots can be taught how to be a human being.  they should send these ghetto people to school for classes because many of them wasnt taught how to behave like resepectible human beings.  you would think after herpies he would have learned how to act! but no! this idiot thinks that he can kill animals and brag about how the world will still love him, well I wonder how he feels now on his way back to ghetto land and the world cant stand him. maybe he just might meet a dog lover in jail!     hey Vic its not nice being broke! oh you were broke! oh! and you are broke again! if your serious about helping change your dog killing image, try being a positive role model first of all DONT LIE! Your lawyer should have told you that from the beginning, and maybe we would have had some mercy for your ignorance. And black people this is not about race this is about a ignorant heartless dog killer, that bets on the death of a dog! maybe after losing everything and being known as a dog killer maybe this little ghetto boy will grow up. and learn how to stay out of trouble.  NFL  it is too much black talent to fool with ignorant talent, first signs cut your loss!  and I am  BLACK!  I dont support ignorance no matter what your race is!

No, the Michael Vick case is not about race, but your ultra-ignorant "anti-ghetto" rant is certainly RACIST! The fact of the matter is, the majority of  black athletes playing in the NFL are from the ghetto, and most have never had any problems off the field.

Michael Vick is a  bad apple - period! And bad apples come in every skin color, and from all walks of life - or have you not been paying attention to all of those corporate executives being arrested for committing egregious white collar crimes that are a mainstay of  the evening news? And what about Republican Senator Larry Craig being forced to resign after soliciting sex in a men`s bathroom? Need I go on?

I`m personally disappointed, disgusted and repulsed by the actions of Michael Vick, as are the majority of Americans both black and white. However, crime and poor judgement have absolutely nothing to do with being black and from the ghetto. And I think it`s ignorant of you to even suggest such a thing!

Nikole, it doesn`t matter how you interpreted that post. It`s how I interpreted it that matters. And as a black man, I found that post to be highly offensive. I think most blacks would be extremely offended by that post. And don`t try censoring me, unless you do the same to other members, which you clearly don`t.

Other members voice their opinions in an aggressive and sometimes insulting manner, and you`ve never once reprimanded them - so don`t try reprimanding me. Besides, I personally don`t recognize your token authority.

As a moderator, you can`t play favorites, Nikole. You`re supposed to be fair.If you can`t be fair, you shouldn`t be a moderator - token or otherwise.

“Come on, you guys, we all live in this world together and unfortunately, there will always be someone who crosses a line with someone else’s opinions by using only what they know to express things and by how the other person thinks. One has to be bigger than what is used in language to express things and take their own true wants and desires of how they want things to be, what feels right to them and let the other go. Other wise, controversy will never die on any named subject or controversy. You can`t make yourself clear against a fight, if you throw fighting words back. No body wins. There are good and bad in all humans, no matter the nationality. Take the good in yourself and override the rest.”

Now, back to the subject. You can only imagine what my thoughts are on hearing anyone doing such acts as Michael Vick because I have a true passion for all animals and work in the pet industry. I don’t care who did this kind of act, in my opinion, the laws are not tough enough. To me, that would be like murdering humans. I believe the punishment should be life in prison for this act. But that is not going to happen, but at least make sure the law is passed that this man should never be allowed to own another animal in his lifetime. Personally, I think after a few good years pass, things die down, he`ll do it again, under an unknown ring of friends.  The whole thing makes me sick to think about it and our laws are not tough enough to prevent this type of animal abuse.

I disagree. After basically flushing $140 million down the toilet, there`s absolutely no way Michael Vick will ever do this again.
