At what point do you consider your business a success?

Is there a benchmark or goal you feel you need to get to, or have already reached, to be able to say "My business has succeeded"?

Having just started out, my goals are small but many.  My first goal is just getting a decent amount of traffic to my website on a consistent basis and knowing that I have a website that is "user friendly" and something people are looking for.  My second goal is turn that traffic into "sales" and repeat visitors.  The goals go up from there.  As of this moment I feel I will be able to say "My business has succeeded" when I am seeing consistent traffic and at least $1000 in sales every month.  From there I will increase my goals and strive to reach them and better myself and my company.

In our case, we specifically started the flag business as a replacement for bankrupt Social Security, for our future. The goal is to totally replace employment income and provide a comfortable income completely under our own direction.

We`ve been in business just under 2 years, and we`re starting to have regular business. The next step is to increase our capacity, and to see about some sort of formal working space. Following that, we`ll expand the product lines.

We figure we`ve got the rest of our lives to build the busines to whatever level we can make it, but the end-goal is a way to generate income without relying on the government, employers, and investment portfolio returns.
