Last year at this time, not many people had ever heard of Illinois senator Barack Obama. Now he`s on the threshold of becoming the next president of the United States. What are your thoughts on Barack Obama? Do you like him or dislike him? Please explain your answer.

Hey everyone.  A healthy political discussion is great but remember to be respectful of others` political beliefs.

That said, go Obama!

Thanks for adding that caveat, Steve.

Obama is someone I`ve been aware of for quite some time due to friends in Chicago pointing him out as an "up and comer" in Illinois politics.  His book, The Audacity of Hope, is a great read.

He`s fresh, intelligent, charismatic, an excellent speaker - and, because he`s fairly new on the political scene, we don`t know a lot about him.  That`s probably a huge positive in his presidential campaign - he doesn`t bring a lot of political baggage with him to the race for the White House.

Speaking of his book, Obama beat out Bill Clinton in a contest almost as closely watched as the primaries being waged across the United States -- the music industry`s Grammy Awards.

Last Sunday night. Obama won the spoken word Grammy for the audiobook version of his blockbuster tome "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream." It marked his second statuette, following a win in 2006 for "Dreams From My Father," an audiobook for a memoir first published in 1995.

Obama`s on quite a roll!

Ron Paul is my man so I haven`t paid a lot of attention to Obama. Where does he stand on globalization?

Do some research and see where he stands on globalization and other issues.

Go Hilary Clinton,
I think it`s time we give a woman the chance to do what men haven`t accomplished over the last 3 decades.
As far as Obama goes... My respects to all of your opinions and believes. I think the United States Needs Change...

Hilary?  Guess you don`t like McCain or Huckabee??

I  really don`t like to get involved in political discussions, because  everyone has their beliefs,...... which is a good thing. :)

HouseofJerky..
I don`t care for republicans... I am a democrat... But in my opinion, we need a woman in the white house.. It`s time we give someone else a chance... So far republicans (bush) hasn`t done anything, why should we trust another Republican? BTW, they are not for Small Businesses...
