Hi everybody. I have been enjoying your posts and figured it was time for me to sign up and engage in all the great conversation. I was hoping you all would be able to check out my site and let me know what you thing. Good or bad, I want it all!

First a little introduction about my biz. We offer cleaning and sealing services for concrete brick pavers, new or old. Pavers that have weeds and moss in the joints and are heavily stained can be cleaned like new and sealed to protect from fading and future staining. We also do repairs on brick pavers. We service Northern Illinois so we have a small audience internet wise.

Purpose of website. All of our marketing materials have our website on them. A lot of people have not heard of services like our, sealing mostly, and I want to have a place for them to og to get the details before making the call. Thats what I would do if I didn`t know about a product or service. I also thin a photo gallery of past jobs is beneficial for prospective clients.

Anyways, let me know what you think. How I cna improve it for customers, how I cna make it easier to find(seo or keywording), or design layout. I had the site designed and the maintenance is done by that company. I don`t know much about programming or seo. I have submitted it to search engines and just started using adwords on Google. My design co did  a little of the SEO type stuff at the beginning.

I also just started  a blog that I don`t have any posts but the intro on but if you have any comments to make on that I would love to hear them also. It is not yet linke dto my website. The address is http://paverprotector.wordpress.com

So thanks in advance for your help. Again, I look forwarsd to being part of this community!

I finally figured out where you were located after clicking around and hitting Contact Us.  Are you local and if I live in California will you come out and do a job?  That should be more prevalent on the main page.

If you are not nation wide you should give some type of service area. The Free Estimate page must have that. Why would I waist my time, and yours, filling out the form if I live in Florida? If you are nation wide then state that to avoid confusion.

Other than that, I like it. Some may not like the brown font on brown background but I found it easy to read.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree with the tan text on brown background. Any suggestions on what color text I should have them change it to?

Good point also on the location. Most of my traffic comes from my local marketing efforts but some day when I get up there on search engines it will be good to specify my Northern Illinois service area.

Thanks again for ther great advice!

i think the site creates a feeling of SERIOUS credibility. it looks expensive. that`s good for consumer confidence.

however, just a point: as a layman, i don`t know why i need to coat my pavers. i would think that you would make that JUMP from the page. and then, of course, why you`re the best at doing what you do.

followup on Dan`s service area comment -- if you include something to the effect of "serving This City, That City, That Other City, and all of Northern Illinois" on your pages -- all of them, perhaps in the footer -- you will have an easier time getting indexed with those as keywords, especially if you put them in header tags. It will make it easier for local clients to find you.

Also, will your target audience know what the word "pavers" means? Your heavy reliance on this word means people looking for you will have to use it or they won`t find you in the search engines. I`m thinking that if you were to use more laymen friendly terms like "brick driveway sealant" or something (you`d know better what terms would be appropriate), people will find you more easily.

Noticed also that the site has no doctype. Have you looked at this in a variety of different browsers? Lack of a doctype will cause browsers to view it in "quirks" mode, meaning the chances of it displaying correctly across browsers is significantly lower.

Page titles -- all your pages have a nice descriptive title, except the home page. You really need to get that description in the home page title as well for SEO purposes.

I like the tan on brown but on some monitors the contrast may not be enough to be readable.

You also really should get a description in the meta description tag. This is tthe little blurb people will read about your site when they do find you in Google... not sure which other engines use it. If you leave it empty people will see some text from the page which may or may not be terribly relevant.

The blog link doesn`t go anywhere.

That`s all I see for the moment... once the rest of the designers wake up tomorrow I`m sure you`ll get tons more feedback :)

The site looks very nice in my browser, by the way. I like brown-and-blue color schemes.

I agree that it has a nice look and feel. I also feel that the tan text/dark background could be adjusted for easier reading.

Definitely fine tune your meta tags, and place alt tags in your images.

Try to create additional text in your pages; more information for your visitors is beneficial to them.

The term "pavers" may not be familiar to many people; perhaps defining that term and/or using additional terms would be helpful.

"
We use a vast selection of chemicals and cleaners" .... what types of cleaners? May be a major point with some customers; eco-friendly, damaging to surrounding greenery?

Even if you clean/restore/beautify, what are the long term effects? Does it save a user money and replacement costs down the road? How long does the restoration last? Do you need follow up cleaning? Even though it looks better now, what about later?

Paula, Thanks fo rall the feedback. I have a lot of learning to do about the SEO stuff but it just snowed 10 inched the other day so I`ve got some time off to read up. Thanks for pointing out that I need to use more laymans terms. Once your in something you ten to forget what the general public knows things by. Again, thanks very much for the feedback!

Webline, Thanks for the feedback. I will have some re-wording to do and further explanations. Good point also on the chemicals/cleaners. I know the green thing is getting a lot of attention and I need to start promoting that where possible. Thanks!
