Hello Everyone,
I have mastered the perfect beeswax lip balm using all natural products.  I would like to sell it on the internet, craft-shows, and in retail.  Does anyone have or know where I could go to to find regulations or licensing information on selling my product?

Thanks in advance!
Angela

Hey, welcome, another Michiganian! Wow we are not that far from each other, I`m in Grand Ledge, just west of Lansing.

Do you have a website yet? Have you done any shows yet? There are not many with your type of product on the circuit, only a few so that is great. I can sure help you with show information if you are looking to do those.

In regards to the licensing, you need to call your county health department and also call the Michigan Department of Agriculture. Actually, call MDA first, the state usually overrides the county anyway. See what they have to say and then check with your local health department. Don`t pay for anything until you talk to both. If they give you a bunch of stuff that seems a little whacked, email me back, I will help you thru it if I can. I have had to work thru all this stuff with my own product, and have several friends that have gone thru it with other food items and dog treats and things of that nature. It can be frustrating.

Let me know if I can help with anything!

I don`t have any help with the legals, but I love the name!

I mean, it speaks to the beeswax, but it also makes me picture "bee-sting lips" which is great for marketing.  I`m picturing a perfectly moisturized pout already!

Angela,

This may sound crazy but your lip balm may have a use you hadn`t thought of. I love to snorkel. I have a mustache which causes my mask to leak unless I seal it with bag balm (the only thing I can find). Bag balm is very messy, bulky and like putting axle grease on your mustache. Just a thought, scuba shops may be interested and anyone with a mustache (which rules out most women) but includes alot of men who like to snorkel or scuba dive.
