Good morning/afternoon. I appreciate you taking the time to read this post and providing any feedback or suggestions.

 

What I would like to do is open an online store and have upward of 100 vendors selling their products. Depending upon the types of vendors I find would dictate the type of store it is. For each sale I would take a small commission. What I have in place at this point is the software and the site.

 

What I am struggling with is finding vendors that have a desire to sell their products. Everyone I contact does not return calls or emails.

 

I`m not seeking large or even medium sized companies. I am concentrating on small companies that generally would not have the ability to sell their products online.

 

Thank you for your suggestions on how to locate people to sell their products.

This idea has great potential!  I specialize in small business start up and expansion so I locate potential vendors for my clients as well as have clients who may be interested.  The question would be how do you propose to market your business?  Do you have a business plan and market research in place as well as a marketing plan?  Whether it is time, services or money this will be an investment for vendors so they will be looking for a return on investment which is what you need to provide in your business plan.  Without this, at the very least, it will be difficult for you to find people who are interested.  Do you have the site up yet?  I would love to help you with all of this.  My contact info is below.

Here in Texas, we have a "Go Texan" program through the Department of Agriculture that includes a directory of producers of products from Texas. Many of these producers are small or startups that could likely use another avenue to market and sell their products. Check them out at www.GoTexan.org.
