As a hair loss specialist with many hair pulling disorder clients who could not get insurance to help their treatments, I wanted to form a non-profit.
Throughout 2008, my 501c3 application was rejected three times by the IRS and was told that any future applications would require legal submission; a route I tried to avoid for financial reasons.

Needless to say, all I could think of were those tween children who's hair pulling habit have worsened but were eager to start school.  That thought fueled me and kept me from stopping.

The legal price tag to start up a non-profit, I learned the hard way, is the same as starting up a new business.  2009 was beginning... and what would have been a "New Business Goal - New Year" resolution for many hopefuls, turned bitter as more of our customers faced unemployment.  Despite all the economic uncertainties, I was still determined to hire my lawyer, meticulously paid my dues and finally earned my title as a public charity foundation.  My organization, HelpMe2Stop.org was born in this depression.

Fast forwarding to today and looking at my for-profit's, CyberMane Inc's, 2009 year in review, I am still in disbelief at our even bigger growth than previous years; of why I was able to afford to open another company, why I was able to offer financing for my customers with 0% interest no credit check, why I was able go on a long-awaited family vacation and why I recently announced my retirement from doing hair augmentation to a full-time entrepreneur; just some brief highlights of our year-end success.

I remember as a child, sitting in the church pews waiting for the collection basket, someone told me that "the more you give the more you shall receive".  I did not quite understand its meaning, but looking back, I am positive "The Power of Giving" revealed its rewards.  It is amazing!  After my experiences, I have no fear of economic troubles.

To conclude, I want to wish you all a very Happy Holiday & a very Prosperous New Year and in the Spirit of Giving, I have demonstrated my appreciation to everyone at StartUpNation by making a contribution to HelpMe2Stop.org Angels Program, this cause I strongly believe in and {for karma because I do want to keep growing!}

I advise you to experience what philanthropy can do for your business; help the cause you believe in or start up a cause of your own... you will be very surprised in the years to follow!  Cheers to 2010!
