Hello,

Has anybody had good luck getting articles you`ve written picked up on sites by using an article submission service? If so, any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Steve

It seems to me to be easier to contact a site directly and ask if they`re looking for articles, and what their submission guidelines might be. That, or use places like Constant Content. I tend to be a bit leery of agents, and an article submitting site smacks a bit of an agent.

I go along with Craig.  Your better off going directly to the sites.  You can look up Constant content and look for similar sites with Google.  Agents also charge for their service even if you get nothing.

I`d also suggest when going to sites look for authority sites in your niche, those who are respected and who`s link will be of value to you.  Also, you`ll have a better shot at being listened to if you first research their site, make some comments (or compliments if it fits) on their site and point out why your article will be a good fit for their visitors.

If possible offer the website owner an original article that won`t be found anywhere else, or give them exclusive rights for a month or something like that. Original content is golden so if you`re offering that it will be received better than a reprint article you`re submitting to 20 other sites. :)

Hope this helps.

I`ve always had much greater success contacting magazine and website editors directly to establish a relationship resulting in requests for article submissions.

I have submitted two articles to EzineArticles, and they have been picked up by lots of relevant sites.  I was amazed by the expsoure that was created.

I think that there have been many good suggestions offered thus far. It would probably help to know your area of expertise so that people can make additional suggestions.

Also, don`t rule out printed magazines and newspapers. Many have instructions for how to submit, or just contact a few of the editors at pubs you like. Also, be sure that you have the rights to any media you use, such as photos.

I`ve written about 100 article for printed and online pubs, and I agree that submitting original content to the leading sites and pubs in your industry is a very good idea.

All the best,

Andrew

So you don`t have to use an agent for articles--they would only take books. Your best bet is to contact the right editor and use a tool like writersmarket.com to help with that sort of thing:)
