Hey everyone,

I had actually joined about a week or so ago (not even sure exactly what day), but I`ve been so busy (working full time, while working a part time job as well, as well as helping out with my nieces, all 3 at the same time. I know a bit complicated). I also belong to other online communities as well (MorningCoach.com & 48Days.net in particular) that I try to be active in as well. Plus I`m a story writer so I try to find time everyday to write something. So I do apologize for this being the first time I`m posting in the forums. (ps. In addition to working all day and trying to find time to write in the evenings/nights I also listen to a lot of podcasts as well, so go figure when I find time to sleep lol).

That said, like I mentioned before, I`m a story writer. I write Christian fiction, non-Christian fiction and fan fiction (limited). I`ve been writing these different types of fiction (with fan fiction being the most recent kind) for some years now and I`ve been posting on a site to get some feedback on my writing. I have been interested in going from story writing as a hobby to possibly making at least some `extra` income from it. In other words, I`d like to make it my main source of income by turning it into a business venture. That`s where StartUpNation comes into play. If anyone has any ideas as to how I can `make a living` from my writing then I`m all ears.

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself to the community. Hope I can be helpful in this community. My first bit of usefulness and helpfulness is actually mention MorningCoach.com (a personal development community that also focuses on business and finances as well) and 48Days.net (an online community based on Dan Miller`s 48 Days to the Work You Love book and business). Hope I can continue contributing to this community. I also hope that I can do so often. Well, that`s it for now.

God bless....

Miss J

Hi there, Miss J. :-) Welcome to the community.

I just got done reading "The Visitation," by Frank Peretti. Prior to that, I`d read a couple of so-called Christian writers, finding them to be a bit unrealistic.

It`s an interesting arena, and puts a strong pressure on the writer`s skills in both developing realistic characters AND a good story line.

Hi CraigL

Thanks for the warm welcome. My stories are short fiction that I try to base on reality. I hope it comes through as that. I am currently working on a multi-part story called "The Wealthy Atheist". The 1st 3 or so parts can be found at the site http://storymash.com/u/rjcharley/ Eventually, when I`m finished with it, I`d like to publish it and sell it, not sure if I will self-publish or what when that time comes. Until then, I`m just writing to get the words down on `paper` (so to speak). I also write non-Christian fiction and fan fiction. I write under different `pen names` and I`m not quite ready to introduce this community (or most of the other online communities I participate in) to these other stories of mine. I am trying to establish myself as a writer of Christian fiction. That`s the genre I`d like to make a living from. The other genres are mainly just for fun. Anyways, thanks once again for the warm welcome. I hope you take a few minutes to read what I have on that site so far and give me your feedback. Thanks.

God bless...

Hi Miss J,

Just food for though, I am also a writer and derive a small part of my income from writing magazine and newspaper articles.  You might try joining WriterWeekly.com site.  There is a lot of useful information on the site in regards to getting published.  I also recommend Writers Market.com.  You might want to join one of the national writers guild as well.

Good luck.

Hey nevadascul,

Thanks for the helpful info. I`ve heard about writersmarket.com and I`m looking into it. I will also look into writersweekly.com as well. Again thanks for the useful and helpful info. I would love to read your works if at all possible. I love getting to know other writers and reading their work. Please let me know how (where) I can get a look at your work. Thanks.

God bless...

Miss J

Hi again,
You can see some of my articles at www.spcfreelance.com.  Hit the "Writing" button for my magazine clips, the "Newspaper" button for some of my newspaper articles.
