The position is a Web Design Developer.

You MUST already live in the Birmingham, Michigan area as this role will work closely on a daily basis with our entire internal team.

You MUST crave an entrepreneurial environment where every day is a fast & furious adventure in growing the StartupNation community.

Job Description summary: The Web Design Developer is in part responsible for the daily management of the StartupNation website, adding new web pages, features and functionality as is planned in our editorial and technology plans.  The Web Design Developer is also involved in the development of future website design activities based on the strategic plans of StartupNation.

You MUST possess these skills:

  • Proficient in HTML coding
  • Proficient in CSS.  Able to create CSS to support complete design of a web page.
  • Able to create and manipulate graphics in Adobe Photoshop for web use.
  • Proficient in Adobe ImageReady to slice images to work within CSS design.  Able to optimize images to an appropriate quality, size, and file format.
  • Ability to work around dynamic programming code (work within .asp pages)
  • Ability to manipulate and insert existing JavaScript into web pages
  • Experience with Macromedia Dreamweaver
  • Ability to work in a structured project timeline and accurately estimate hours for work completion

When I read that we MUST we live in Michigan, then that automatically ruled me out as well as any other talented developer that I could`ve referred this post to

Hi HDean,

I understand. There are a tremendous number of extremely talented people across the nation that would be a terrific fit for the StartupNation team. We are, at this point, a very tight-knit team and interact with one another here at SuN HQ closely, so it`s critical that this new team member be local.

Joel, Aww.. man. that is not cool?
Why can`t we work remote?
I have extensive experience in web design and development in coldfusion, asp, asp.net, php, css, xml, dhtml, and SEO. I wish I was closer to you, I wouldn`t mind helping the team out. If you ever need my assistance, I would be more than happy to help you... I would travel if I had to... let me know.
Oh and I will email you, I`ve been wanting to speak with you...

Oh and profficient with:
PhotoShop CS, Illustrator CS, Fireworks, Flash, and Dreamweaver...
Slicing, Image Optimizing, JavaScript Embedding, Applets,

How far is Sandusky, OH from Birmingham?  I know I am just about an hour from the border Ohio/Michigan border... is that too far of a commute?????  O may have someone show is very qualified!

I am also seeking a local programmer here in Melbourne Australia.

For me also it is imperative to have close contact in order to get the job done the way I want it done.

Sandusky is a bit of a hike to commute. Birmingham is a northern Detroit suburb. Pass your referral along to John Siverling!
